VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. GOD has not desired nor taken delight in sacrifices and offerings
"When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings"
Psalms 40:6 (Amplified Bible)
40:6 Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.
Hebrews 10:5 (Amplified Bible)
10:5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];
Mark 12:33 (Amplified Bible)
12:33 And to love Him out of and with all the heart and with all the understanding [with the faculty of quick apprehension and intelligence and keenness of discernment] and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Romans 8:3 (Amplified Bible)
8:3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice],
GOD condemned His Son in the flesh so we can be the righteousness of GOD thru Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (Amplified Bible)
5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
B. These sacrifices and offerings are offered according to the Law
"all of which are offered according to the Law"
CHRIST is the fulfillment of the Law.
The Law's purpose are the following:
1. To reveal GOD's holiness
Romans 7:12-14 (Amplified Bible)
7:12 The Law therefore is holy, and [each] commandment is holy and just and good.
7:13 Did that which is good then prove fatal [bringing death] to me? Certainly not! It was sin, working death in me by using this good thing [as a weapon], in order that through the commandment sin might be shown up clearly to be sin, that the extreme malignity and immeasurable sinfulness of sin might plainly appear.
7:14 We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am a creature of the flesh [carnal, unspiritual], having been sold into slavery under [the control of] sin.
2. To render judgement
Romans 2:12 (Amplified Bible)
2:12 All who have sinned without the Law will also perish without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law.
Acts 23:3 (Amplified Bible)
23:3 Then Paul said to him, God is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit as a judge to try me in accordance with the Law, and yet in defiance of the Law you order me to be struck?
3. To reveal sin
Romans 3:19-20 (Amplified Bible)
3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that [the murmurs and excuses of] every mouth may be hushed and all the world may be held accountable to God.
3:20 For no person will be justified (made righteous, acquitted, and judged acceptable) in His sight by observing the works prescribed by the Law. For [the real function of] the Law is to make men recognize and be conscious of sin [not mere perception, but an acquaintance with sin which works toward repentance, faith, and holy character].
Galatians 3:19 (Amplified Bible)
3:19 What then was the purpose of the Law? It was added [later on, after the promise, to disclose and expose to men their guilt] because of transgressions and [to make men more conscious of the sinfulness] of sin; and it was intended to be in effect until the Seed (the Descendant, the Heir) should come, to and concerning Whom the promise had been made. And it [the Law] was arranged and ordained and appointed through the instrumentality of angels [and was given] by the hand (in the person) of a go-between [Moses, an intermediary person between God and man].
4. To reveal divinely provided righteousness
Romans 3:21 (Amplified Bible)
3:21 But now the righteousness of God has been revealed independently and altogether apart from the Law, although actually it is attested by the Law and the Prophets,
5. To point to CHRIST
Galatians 3:24 (Amplified Bible)
3:24 So that the Law served [to us Jews] as our trainer [our guardian, our guide to Christ, to lead us] until Christ [came], that we might be justified (declared righteous, put in right standing with God) by and through faith.
Luke 24:44 (Amplified Bible)
24:44 Then He said to them, This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything which is written concerning Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.
Romans 10:4 (Amplified Bible)
10:4 For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. That is, the purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him] as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him.
John 5:46 (Amplified Bible)
5:46 For if you believed and relied on Moses, you would believe and rely on Me, for he wrote about Me [personally].
To illustrate, when CHRIST came to this world, He met the Pharisees who are so full and blinded by self-righteousness, CHRIST told them "I came into this world for judgment [as a Separator, in order that there may be separation between those who believe on Me and those who reject Me], to make the sightless see and to make those who see become blind." so that they can't see JESUS coming to them because it's already pointed to them by the Law. In reality, the Pharisees if they see themselves as righteous then the Law is not applicable to them.
John 9:39 (Amplified Bible)
9:39 Then Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment [as a Separator, in order that there may be separation between those who believe on Me and those who reject Me], to make the sightless see and to make those who see become blind.
Matthew 15:14 (Amplified Bible)
15:14 Let them alone and disregard them; they are blind guides and teachers. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a ditch.
Romans 2:13 (Amplified Bible)
2:13 For it is not merely hearing the Law [read] that makes one righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be held guiltless and acquitted and justified.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have ended the Law thru Your Presence, now You are pleased with me living by faith in and thru You. Thru faith in You, LORD JESUS, I am made guiltless, acquitted and justified.
