The Danger Of Justifying Sin Series

Have you ever heard someone justify their sinful behavior by saying, "Everybody's doing it"? This mentality can lead us down a slippery slope, making us believe that sin is acceptable because it's common. However, the Bible warns us against this thinking.

The Crowd in Noah's Day (Genesis 6:5-8)

In Noah's time, the entire world had become corrupt, and God saw that the wickedness of humanity was widespread. But just because everyone was doing it didn't make it right. God saved Noah and his family, showing that He values righteousness over conformity to sinful norms.

The Israelites in the Wilderness (Exodus 23:2-3)

When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they were tempted to follow the crowd and engage in idolatry. But God warned them, "You shall not follow a crowd to do evil." This passage highlights the importance of standing up for what is right, even if it means going against the majority.

The Prophet Elijah (1 Kings 18:21-22)

During Elijah's time, the majority of Israelites had turned to Baal worship. But Elijah stood alone, declaring, "How long will you halt between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." Elijah refused to justify sin just because it was popular.

The Bible teaches us that just because something is common doesn't make it right. We must stand firm in our convictions and follow God's Word, even if it means going against the crowd. Remember, God values righteousness over conformity to sinful norms.
