INTRODUCTION:
In this final part of our series on overcoming spiritual dryness, we will focus on how to live in sustained spiritual revival. Many believers experience moments of refreshing but fail to maintain them. God desires that we move from temporary revival to lasting spiritual overflow. We will explore practical ways to remain consistently filled with His presence.
1. DEVELOPING A LIFESTYLE OF INTIMACY WITH GOD
Spiritual dryness is often a result of distance from God. Cultivating daily intimacy is key to staying refreshed.
a) Making daily fellowship with God a priority (Psalm 91:1)
Dwelling in God’s presence keeps us spiritually alive.
b) Maintaining a consistent prayer life (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
A life of continuous prayer keeps the fire burning.
c) Engaging in heartfelt worship and adoration (John 4:23-24)
True worship connects us to the river of life.
d) Meditating on God’s Word daily (Joshua 1:8)
The Word of God waters the soul and keeps it fresh.
e) Biblical Example: Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:24)
His consistent walk with God sustained his spiritual vitality.
2. STAYING CONNECTED TO THE RIGHT SPIRITUAL ENVIRONMENT
Where you dwell spiritually determines whether you thrive or dry up.
a) Being planted in a Spirit-filled church (Psalm 92:13)
Flourishing comes from being rooted in the right place.
b) Surrounding yourself with spiritually vibrant believers (Proverbs 27:17)
Fellowship with passionate believers keeps the fire burning.
c) Submitting to spiritual authority and mentorship (Hebrews 13:17)
Guidance from godly leaders helps sustain revival.
d) Actively participating in kingdom service (Matthew 6:33)
Serving God keeps your spirit engaged and active.
e) Biblical Example: The early church in Acts 2:42-47
Their unity, devotion, and service kept them spiritually strong.
3. DEALING WITH SPIRITUAL ATTACKS THAT LEAD TO DRYNESS
The enemy seeks to drain believers spiritually. We must be vigilant against his strategies.
a) Recognising spiritual attacks and resisting them (1 Peter 5:8-9)
The devil targets believers to bring dryness; we must resist him.
b) Breaking free from negative cycles and oppression (Isaiah 10:27)
Bondages and oppression lead to spiritual decline.
c) Taking authority over distractions and spiritual laziness (Romans 12:11)
Lack of zeal is an enemy of revival.
d) Constantly covering yourself in prayer and spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Victory over dryness comes through spiritual warfare.
e) Biblical Example: Elijah’s struggle with discouragement (1 Kings 19:1-8)
He almost fell into dryness but was revived by divine intervention.
4. WALKING IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual life. Staying in His power ensures we never run dry.
a) Living a Spirit-filled life daily (Ephesians 5:18)
We must be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
b) Depending on the Holy Spirit for guidance (John 16:13)
A Spirit-led life remains fresh and powerful.
c) Praying in the Spirit regularly (Jude 1:20)
Praying in the Spirit strengthens and refreshes us.
d) Demonstrating the fruits and gifts of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11)
Operating in the Spirit’s power keeps us vibrant.
e) Biblical Example: Jesus was always led by the Spirit (Luke 4:1,14)
He walked in power because He remained filled with the Spirit.
5. WALKING IN CONTINUAL REVIVAL AND OVERFLOW
God desires that we not only be refreshed but that we live in a state of continual overflow.
a) Staying thirsty for more of God (Matthew 5:6)
A constant hunger for God ensures continued growth.
b) Remaining passionate about soul-winning (Proverbs 11:30)
Sharing the gospel keeps our fire burning.
c) Engaging in prophetic declarations and faith confessions (Job 22:28)
Speaking life over yourself sustains revival.
d) Pressing into higher dimensions in the Spirit (Philippians 3:12-14)
There is always more in God; never settle for less.
e) Biblical Example: Paul’s unquenchable hunger for God (Philippians 3:10)
Despite all he had seen, he still desired more of God.
CONCLUSION:
Overcoming spiritual dryness is not just about a one-time revival but about maintaining a lifestyle of spiritual freshness and overflow. This requires daily intimacy with God, staying in the right spiritual environment, resisting attacks that lead to dryness, walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, and pressing into continuous revival.
As we apply these principles, we will experience permanent spiritual freshness and be empowered to impact our generation.
