Summary: Sermon Series on the 7 letters to the churches in Revelation with help from Pastor Ken D. Trivette

The History of Thyatira: Acts 16:11-15

There are two identifiable women at Thyatira:

Lydia--saved under Paul.

Jezebel--a false prophet like in book of 1 and 2 Kings.

1) Jesus Commends Thyatira: Vs. 19 "I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first." (NIV)

For their motivation of their works!

Colossians 3:23 "In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people." (NCV)

For their service in ministry!

Ephesians 4:11-13

For their faithfulness and patience in the ministry!

Romans 12:9-13

For the growth of their work!

Hebrews 5:11-6:3

2) Jesus Condemns Thyatira: Vs. 20 "Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols." (NIV)

For the evil and wicked woman that was influencing the Church!

2 Peter 2:1-3

3) Jesus Corrects Thyatira: Vs. 21-23 "I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds." (NIV)

He gives her time to Repent!

He brings about Great Tribulation!

4) Jesus Commands Thyatira: Vs. 25 "Only hold on to what you have until I come." (NIV)

Jesus doesn't always change the storm but simply asks you to hold on in the midst of the storm!

Question: Who are you holding onto?
