COMMANDS (IN GENERAL)
2 Corinthians
Open wide your hearts.
Come out from among them and be separate.
Make room for us in your hearts.
Finish the work...
Boast in the Lord.
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith;
Test yourselves.
Aim for perfection...
Listen to my appeal...
Live in peace.
Greet one another with a holy kiss.
Galatians
Become like me, for I became like you
Stand firm then
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
Watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Ephesians
Remember, that formerly you were at one time separate from Christ...
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice
Find out what pleases the Lord.
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Understand what the will of the Lord is.
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
Sing and make melody in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Put on the full armor of God
Put on the full armor of God
Stand firm, then with the belt...the breastplate... the shoes... the shield...
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God
Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Always keep on praying for all the saints
Philippians
Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ
Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him
Rejoice in the Lord!
Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.
Join with others in following my example
Take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you
Help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel
Rejoice in the Lord always
Rejoice!
Think about such things true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, praiseworthy things!
Put into practice whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me.
Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus.
Colossians
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy...
Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature...
Rid yourselves of all such things as these anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Clothe yourselves with compassion,
kindness, humility, gentleness and patience
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Put on love, over all these virtues, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Submit, wives, to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Love your wives, husbands and do not be harsh with them.
Obey your parents, children for
this pleases the Lord.
Obey your earthly masters in everything, slaves...
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men...
Provide your slaves with what is right and fair, masters...
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Pray for us too that God may open a door for our message--and that I may proclaim it clearly as I should
Make the most of every opportunity.
1 Thessalonians
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands
Encourage each other with these words
Encourage one another and build each other up
Respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in highest regard in love because of their work
Live in peace with each other
Warn those who are idle
Encourage the timid
Help the weak
Make sure nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but...
Always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else
Pray continually
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ everything
