A King is Born—To Reign Forever
Introduction:
This is the final week of our series, “A King is Born.”
Over the past few weeks, we’ve walked through the story of how Jesus entered our world.
We’ve seen that He was born into a dysfunctional family, stepped into a time of chaos, and came to make all things new.
Last week, the children did a marvelous job with their program and Hunter did an exceptional job sharing “A King is Born— The Best Gift Ever.”
But today, we’re not just celebrating a gift—we’re proclaiming a King, born to reign forever.
I want to start by asking you a question: Who sits on the throne of your life?… Whose power do you truly trust?
Because if we’re honest, it’s easy to let the weight of this world, the chaos of life, or the opinions of others take the seat that belongs to Jesus.
It is easy to give into peer pressure, give into fear, or even give in to the lie that we’re in control of everything.
When we let these things take the throne of our hearts, we’re allowing something—or someone—other than Jesus to reign over our decisions, emotions, and ultimately, our lives.
But here’s the thing: only Jesus is worthy of that throne.
Only Jesus has the perfect power to sustain you, the perfect peace to calm your soul, and the eternal purpose to give your life meaning.
So, let me ask you again: Who sits on the throne of your life?
Is it Jesus, the King who reigns forever, or is it something else—something temporary, something fallible, something that will ultimately fail you?
Over 2,000 years ago, in a humble stable in Bethlehem, a King was born… But this was no ordinary King.
The prophet Isaiah declared it long before His arrival:
Isaiah 9:6–7 NLT
6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!
Let me tell you, Jesus didn’t come to establish a temporary throne or a political regime.
He came to establish a Kingdom that would last forever.
He came not just to reign over nations but to reign in hearts.
He came to carry the weight we could never bear and to bring peace that this world could never give.
This morning, I want to share with you three incredible truths about our King, Jesus.
1. He reigns with perfect power
2. He Reigns with absolute authority
3. He Reigns with eternal purpose.
And my prayer is that you’ll be reminded of the truth that He alone is worthy of your trust and your surrender.
Because when Jesus is on the throne, everything changes!
When Jesus reigns, His power lifts you above the weight of the world, His peace quiets the chaos, and His purpose gives you the confidence to move forward, no matter what.
Let’s Pray!
1. Jesus Reigns with Perfect Power and Peace
1. Jesus isn’t just mighty—He’s almighty.
a. Isaiah uses the title: MIGHTY God— In the Greek, that word means powerful, a warrior, a champion strong and brave!
b. His power is more than just great—it’s perfect, it doesn’t waver, it doesn’t shake, and it’s eternal!
c. Unlike the power of man, which is weak and temporary, Jesus’ power is boundless and everlasting.
d. His power works in our lives, helping us to overcome fear, to break chains of sin, and make a way where there seems to be no way.
e. Isaiah says, “The government will be upon His shoulder,” and that means Jesus is the One who carries the weight of the world— He does it effortlessly!
i. This is what perfect power looks like— a King who bears the weight of the world and never falters.
ii. This means the responsibility of ruling, holding everything together, and guiding the universe rests solely on Him.
iii. Its not on you or me, and It’s not on any politician or world leader.
iv. It’s His responsibility, and let me tell you—It’s NEVER too heavy for Him!
f. Here is the beautiful part… Jesus is not just holding the universe together; He’s stepping into your chaos to bring peace.
i. Where human leaders fail, Jesus’ power never fails!
ii. His reign is unshaken by opposition, untouched by uncertainty.
iii. He’s not just ruling from a distance—He’s deeply involved in your life, balancing the weight of the world with the tender care of a loving Savior.
