Daniel 6:3

Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.

Introduction:

“Hindi Pwedeng-pwede na yan!”

Dapat pwedeng pwede… a famous Tagalog quote similar to mediocrity or lack of excellence in once work or task.

Creation reflects the excellence of God. We serve a God that is excellent.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” ~ Will Durant.

What do you do in life? Excel in it, to give glory to our God.

Colossians 3:23, NASB Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

Related: Whatever you do, do it with all your heart.

Delivery Rider ka – Husayan mo, excel in it

Nagluluto ka, sarapan mo luto – Husayan mo, excel in it

Tagapag-laba ka, galingan mo, mabango at maputing laba – Husayan mo, excel in it

Nag-aaral ka, Husayan mo

Padre de pamilya ka, may mga anak ka na binubuhay – Husayan mo, excel in it

Difference between “Excellence” and “Perfectionism”

Pareho ba sila , o magkaiba?

Excellence – yun excellence iba, it produces life-giving fruit. (in the biblical standpoint)

In the book of Thomas Greenspon, “Moving Past Perfect” (binigay nya ang ilan sa mga pagkakaiba ng dalawang salitang ito.)

(Ilan sa Katangian ng Dalawang Salita)

Excellence is confidence(kasiguruhan) – perfection is doubt (alinlangan, o duda)

Excellence is a journey(paglalakbay) – perfectionism is destination (dulo na, tapos na)

Excellence is encouraging (nakapagpapasaya) – perfection is criticizing (mapanuri)

Let’s take a look at the example of the Life of Daniel.

The Excellent Spirit of Daniel

The prophet Daniel lived an incredible life that was marked with success and favor at every turn, and the Bible explains what made this possible.

"then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm." - Daniel 6:3

Daniel 5:12 - Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

From Jon Courson's commentary on this passage:

"Darius realized there was an "excellent spirit" within Daniel. What was this excellent spirit?

1. The Holy Spirit. Daniel interpreted dreams. He prayed with effectiveness. He understood visions. He moved in prophecy. He experienced the miraculous. In other words, he was a man who was filled with the Spirit. That's what made him so successful all the days of his life.

He lived in the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the reason why he excels in every way.

The Holy Spirit exceeds the natural man Daniel.

2. Daniel lived a life of excellence.

Daniel 1:20 says this about Daniel and his friends,

20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, verily, do it with all your might

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Conclusion: /Connect

Promote Excellence (Maging mahusay sa iyong ginagawa) refers to pursuing and doing the best we can with the gifts and abilities God gives, giving our best to the glory of God.

But ideally, it is done without the spirit of competition or seeking to excel simply to be better than others.

The reality is that God sees our work and rewards us accordingly.
