INTRODUCTION

Every kingdom has values that define its culture and way of life. In the world, nations have constitutions and guiding principles that shape their governance. In the same way, the Kingdom of God operates by divine values that distinguish it from the kingdoms of the world. These values are not based on material possessions or human achievements but on spiritual principles that bring fulfilment and purpose to life.

In Romans 14:17, Paul identifies three core values of God’s Kingdom: righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. These are not just theological concepts but practical realities that should define every believer’s daily walk with God. When we live by these values, we reflect the nature of God and experience the fullness of His blessings.

This study will explore these three Kingdom values in detail and how we can apply them in our lives.

1. THE VALUE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness is the foundation of God's Kingdom. It is not based on human efforts but on faith in Christ.

a) Righteousness Means Right Standing with God

Through Christ, we are made righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

b) Righteousness Comes by Faith, Not Works

We are not justified by our good deeds but by faith in Jesus (Romans 3:22).

c) Righteousness Produces a Godly Lifestyle

True righteousness leads to holiness and obedience (1 Peter 1:15-16).

d) Righteousness Brings Divine Favour

When we seek righteousness, all other blessings follow (Matthew 6:33).

e) Biblical Example: Abraham's Faith Counted as Righteousness (Genesis 15:6)

Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.

2. THE VALUE OF PEACE

Peace is a defining mark of God's Kingdom. It is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God’s assurance.

a) Jesus is the Prince of Peace

Christ came to give us peace that the world cannot give (John 14:27).

b) Peace Comes from Trusting in God

Perfect peace belongs to those who trust in God (Isaiah 26:3).

c) Peace Guards Our Hearts and Minds

The peace of God surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

d) We Are Called to Be Peacemakers

As Kingdom citizens, we must promote peace (Matthew 5:9).

e) Biblical Example: Jesus Calming the Storm (Mark 4:39)

Despite the raging storm, Jesus brought peace and quiet.

3. THE VALUE OF JOY

Joy is a supernatural experience that comes from the presence of God. It is not based on circumstances but on divine assurance.

a) The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength

Joy gives us spiritual strength to overcome challenges (Nehemiah 8:10).

b) Joy is a Fruit of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit produces joy in our lives (Galatians 5:22).

c) Joy Comes from Our Salvation

True joy flows from knowing we are saved (Isaiah 12:3).

d) Joy is Not Dependent on Circumstances

Paul rejoiced even in prison (Philippians 4:4).

e) Biblical Example: The Joy of the Early Church (Acts 2:46-47)

The early believers were filled with joy despite persecution.

CONCLUSION

The Kingdom of God is not defined by material things but by spiritual values that bring lasting fulfilment. Righteousness ensures we live in right standing with God, peace keeps our hearts and minds secure, and joy empowers us to live victoriously. When we embrace these values, we manifest God’s Kingdom on earth and experience His supernatural blessings.

As Kingdom citizens, we must prioritise righteousness, live in peace, and maintain our joy, no matter the circumstances. These values will not only bless our lives but also make us true ambassadors of Christ in the world.
