Summary: John 6:35, "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger..." Are you hungry? Jesus will satisfy that spiritual hunger.

In chapter 5, we saw Jesus go after the multitudes. In chapter 6, we see the multitudes go after Jesus. He is made known as the object of their desire and as the only one who can meet the sinner’s need. The impotent man evidenced no desire for the savior. He portrayed the natural man. Dead spiritually.

Two sides: Divine in chapter 5, Human in chapter 6.

In verse 28, Man seeks to bring God into the humbling position of debtor to him. By his works he thinks he has earned salvation. Carnal man must come to ranks of beggar.

In verse 29, only work God accepts is faith in His Son. Only work sinner is expected to do. Galatians 3:26. Acts 16:31, Acts 2:37, Luke 19:15, Romans 3:20.

In verse 30, evidence of their unbelief. See or feel first.

In verse 31, contrast Christ with Moses. Fathers ate bread in the wilderness for 40 years. He had only fed them once. Can he repeat, John 4:12.

God uses bread and water to typify Christ for Israel to see. 1 Corinthians 10:2-3
