Wake Up Call Series

Be Aware - In Romans 13:11 we are given a warning. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed” (Romans 13:11). The Apostle Paul is telling us that we need to be aware of the times in which we live and act accordingly. The Lord Jesus Christ also stressed the importance of this when He asked, “Can you not discern the signs of the times?” (Matthew 16:3) This indicates that we should be mindful of the times in which we live.

Current Events - According to current events, we are in a crisis of global proportions. Problems have always been part of life. However, today the magnitude of problems that exist on a worldwide scale is certainly grounds for concern. Is this a wake-up call or what? Read the signs. God is allowing everything shakable to be shaken. He’s trying to get our attention. It’s time to wake up! It is vitally important that we discern the signs that God gives us regarding current events so that we can respond correctly.

Consider Moses - Consider the example of Moses, whom God called to lead His people out of Egyptian bondage. Moses survived numerous plagues, endured the hostility of his fellow Israelites and faced the vengeance of Pharaoh’s army. How did he endure such hardships? We are told the secret in Hebrews 11:27: Moses “endured, as seeing Him who is invisible.” He saw through all the stuff to the invisible, yet almighty and ever present God. Moses correctly read the signs. He didn’t go by what He saw, but rather by what God said. He got God’s instructions and then followed God’s leading explicitly. Therefore, God enabled Moses to courageously face opposition, overcome obstacles, and endure hardships!

Consider yourself - God will do the same for you! First, make sure that you have the right perspective. Stop seeing things strictly from the human perspective, otherwise you will continue thinking and acting just like the world. The solutions of this world's system are grossly inadequate to deal with the problems of humankind.

Consider God - You must get God’s perspective, so that you can understand the spiritual significance of current events. Then look to Jesus as the author and finisher of your faith, so that He can enable you to deal with whatever comes your way (Hebrews 12:2). He alone knows the way through this wilderness. He will make a way where there is no way, and He will open doors that no one can shut. The Lord Jesus will get you through these troubled times!

Trust the Lord - Therefore, trust the Lord completely with your life. Then you will be able to cooperate with the Lord regarding His solution for your life. Your outcome can be assured; in all these things you will be more than a conqueror through Christ! Hallelujah!
