Summary: The Road to Emmaus

The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-33)

As I journeyed in life, I begun to understand something unique about men. I understood that they are carriers of eternity. This gave me directions in ways of dealing with men, for in one man you find the wisdom of the earth, men who are equipped with the wisdom to revolutionize the earth. These are men that you meet and your life will never stay the same, as regards the temporal, they have the deposits of eternity to make full use of the earth in the essence of co-creation. They are champions, they are masters in this wisdom, they envision. It is actually God given, yet it remains temporal until it comes into contact with that of the heavens.

The cycle continues, in another, you find the wisdom of the heavens, they are they that explain life beyond physicality, men who are filled with the wisdom of Spirituality. It is one thing to have the wisdom of the earth, it is another thing to have that of the heavens, for he that has that of the earth reveals patterns by the Spirit that works in his mind, but he that carries that of the heavens reveals patterns by the Spirit that works in his spirit. Yet both profits, but the later profits the more.

Now Naaman encountered a man with the wisdom of the earth (Syrian king), and his description changed. He is described, “A captain of the host of the king of Syria, a great man with his master, a honorable, a mighty man in valor, through whom the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria” the wisdom of the earth had thrusted him in a certain position, but he had never encountered the wisdom of the heavens that could reveal what really makes complete.

And now, hear me beloveds; Why seek you, the patterns of the heavens among men with the wisdom of the earth?

The king of Syria, upon hearing that in Samaria, his servant can be made whole, he thought of such coming from the man with the wisdom of the earth.

And one man, in whom the wisdom of the heavens was inscribed, heard that such had troubled the Israelite king, and he said, “Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel”

Now what Elisha revealed to Naaman, was the wisdom of the heavens. Where that direction was hidden, the wisdom of the earth couldn’t reach.

Are not Abanah and Pharper, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them and be clean?

Thank God, for faith was spoken into this man through his servants. (2 Kings 5:1-19)

Do you know it is possible to journey with a man who is capable of speaking to your spirit, but because of the wantonness of this age, we tend to substitute the wisdom of the heavens with that of the earth. It is the information around us that pulls us back to Syria with our Leprosy?

Back to our theme scripture, Luke 24:13-33, the men journeyed with the Lord Himself and He asked them; “What are you discussing so intently as you walk?” And this was a fertile ground for them to expound all the information of the earth onto the man of the heavens. Imagine enlightening a man who is meant to be enlightening you?

Thanks be to God; Their eyes were later opened and they couldn’t stay there but rather chose to journey back to Jerusalem to share the news with the rest and also commune with this man again.

The Bible says there were many widows in the days of Elijah when the heavens were closed for three and a half years and a severe famine devastated the land, yet Elijah wasn’t sent to any of them instead to a foreigner, a widow Zarephath in the land of Sidon (Luke 24: 25-26).

There were many lepers in Israel in the days of Elisha but only Naaman was healed, a Syrian. (Luke 24: 27)
