THERE IS NO “I” IN TEAM

Doing Life Together—Part 2

A little old lady was amazed at how nice the young man was next door. Everyday he would help her gather things from her car or help her in her yard. One day the old lady finally ask the young man, "son, how did you become such a fine young man". The young man replied, "well, when I was a boy, I had a drug problem". The old lady was shocked, "I can’t believe that". The young man replied, "it’s true, my parents drug me to church on Sunday morning.

Talk about the flow of the service today. We’re going to do a lot of testimonies. You’re going to preach the sermon today.

WHY DO WE NEED TO DO LIFE TOGETHER?

“TEAM” IS A POWERFUL WORD

1. “TEAM” HELPS ME RESIST THE LURE OF LAZINESS (This entire point is preached on video Roll The Video Here)

Interview congregants—Describe a time when together you did something that specifically challenged or assisted you to grow spiritually?

2. “TEAM” HELPS ME ACHIEVE MY HIGHEST GOALS

Our team encourage us toward God’s dreams and purposes for our lives rather than our own self-centered goals and plans.

And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. [17] He thought to himself, ’What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ [18] "Then he said, ’This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. [19] And I’ll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." ’ [20] "But God said to him, ’You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ Luke 12:16-20 (NIV)

"For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; Acts 13:36 (NIV)

[10] For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. [13] All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. [14] People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. [15] If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. [16] Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:10, 13-16 (NIV)

Interview Congregants—Describe when together you did something that challenged or assisted you fulfill God’s purpose/vision for your life?

3. “TEAM” ALLOWS ME TO LIVE FOR SOMETHING BIGGER THAN MYSELF

Our team encourage us to live significant lives rather than just successful lives.

"I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. Mark 10:29-30 (NIV)

After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means. Luke 8:1-3 (NIV)

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 1 Cor. 12:7 (NIV)

Interview Congregants-- Describe an experience when another Christian did something specific that challenged or assisted you to strive for significance rather than just success?

4. “TEAM” HELPS ME EXPERIENCE THE SACRED MOMENTS OF LIFE

Our team help us to experience God-moments

For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20 (NIV)
