He Cometh Seeking Series

In Bible we see that it is not man who seeks God but God comes seeking man. God came to the garden seeking when Adam & Eve sinned and were hiding (Gen. 3:9). Men may seek god but they also flee from him.

“Jesus said to them it is I don’t be afraid” (John 6:20). There is a critically significant lesson for all of us Christians in the passage of John 6:15-21. We find that when Jesus withdraws to the mountain side to pray, the Apostles leave to Capernaum without Jesus in a boat and find themselves in darkness & in the middle of a storm driving them to panic amidst nowhere near the shore even after rowing into the Sea of Gallilee for about three miles. A closer introspection on our own lives will reveal to us what would happen to us when we leave Jesus out of our affairs. We invariably we get into all sorts of rough & difficult times with our entire lives rocking and shaking in turbulence. In John’s passage we read that Jesus comes seeking them walking on water to a spot which was away from the shore that they left approx. three and a half hours ago. And the most amazing & immensely gratifying part of the passage comes in John 6:21 which describes that when the Apostles took Jesus on the boat, the wind calmed and they reached the shore immediately. So also in our personal lives when we invite Jesus and hold on to him, all the troubles & turbulence in our lives calm and vanish & we reach our destinations immediately. Time & again many of us forget to remember Jesus and proceed without Him as the Apostles did and aimlessly wonder hither & thither finally finding ourselves entangled in cobwebs of problems. The benevolence of His grace is that Jesus loves us so compassionately, that He always comes seeking for us knocking at our doors. “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20). All we have to do is submit ourselves wholly unto Him and no matter whatever our situation is, the amazing grace of Jesus would be sufficient to ensure serene peace & contentment in our lives.

After “His” resurrection when Jesus appeared inside a closed door Cenacle/Upper Room wherein the Apostles were huddled up fearing the wrath of the Sanhedrin, He said to them “It is I myself…..” (Luke 24:39) – here we see that Jesus even comes inside the Cenacle of His frightened and terrified followers ‘without even knocking the closed door’ to assure them of His peace!

“It is I who made the earth and created mankind upon it” (Isaiah 45:12)

“When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm” (Psalm 75:3).

The only way we can reciprocate to our benevolent God and His merciful son is by glorifying their glories & magnifying their magnificence to the highest and surrendering ourselves totally to Him, absolutely letting Him to be our sovereign Lord in all our situations. Amen.
