#2 CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES...
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
This is part two, I do it in two parts...
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom
ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side
of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and
my house, we will serve the Lord.
INTRODUCTION:
MY MOM AND CULL APPLES... What many would have thrown away, my mom would peel and
cut the apples and make apple sauce, apple butter, apple jelly.
Your choice: throw it away, or keep the good?
CHOICE:
The act of choosing, care in selecting, to select freely, to make a decision,
CHOICE MEANS THE BEST PART OF MEAT/MILK...
CONSEQUENCE:
The conclusion, aftermath, conclusion, development, outcome, product
IMMEDIATE:
No intervention, present, being near at hand.
DELAY:
Put off, to stop, to hinder for a time, to cause to be slower, slack
FEW PEOPLE EVER RECOGNIZE THE ROLE OF CHOICES NOT JUST IN HISTORY BUT
IN THE FUTURE... THE CHANGE? THE CHANGE WAS NOT NEW PEOPLE?
THE CHANGE WAS A NEW ATTITUDE...
I. THERE ARE TWO SISTER RAISED IN THE SAME HOME BY THE SAME PARENTS...
ONE MAKES THE CHOICE TO WORRY, THE OTHER SEE THE BENEFITS OF MAKING
JESUS CHOICES...
A. One sister is known a the BUSY-BEE, WORRIED HOUSEKEEPER...
HER CHOICE... Dust bunny chaser...
Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled
about many things:
B. MARY MADE THE CHOICES TO BE WITH JESUS...
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be
taken away from her.
C. MARY'S CHOICES HAD GREAT BENEFITS...
1. She washed Jesus' feet
2. She was a learning student at Jesus' feet
3. Mary fell at Jesus' feet FOR COMFORT when her brother was death...
D. MARY'S CHOICES BROUGHT THE GOOD PART...
Are our choices bringing benefits and favor...
II. TWO WALKING TOGETHER CAN MAKE A CHOICE...
THERE IS TRUTH BEYOND OUR CHOICE...
A. UNITY?
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
A. Two mmen have heard the negative message, they make a choice to walk away from Jerusalem.
B. While they are walking away, they discuss THE NEGATIVE...
Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was
from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
[14] And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
C. CLEOPAS SAYS: ARE YOU THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS NOT HEARD THE BAD NEWS?
Join in the bad news discussion with us... OUR CHOICE?
Luke 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou
only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in
these days?
D. WE MADE THE CHOICE... WE TRUSTED... ED? PAST TENSE...
WE MADE THE CHOICE... WE DON'T BELIEVE ANY ANY MORE...
Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside
all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
E. GOD CAN OPEN OUR EYES TO SEE THE TRUTH BEYOND OUR CHOICES...
Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
[32] And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by
the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
III. SOMETIMES WE MUST MAKE THE DECISION OR CHOICE BY FAITH...
THE MAN IS SCREAMING TO THE TOP OF HIS VOICE...
A. The blind man heard tat Jesus was coming... Listen, Jesus is getting closer and closer.
B. The blind man starts yelling and yelling: OVER HERE JESUS, I AM OVER HERE!
C. The crowd is cruel and says be quiet...
D. THE BLIND MAN MAKES A CHOICE: I WILL NOT BE QUIET...
OVER HERE JESUS!
Mark 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man,
saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
[50] And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
[51] And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind
man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
[52] And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately
he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
E. Down through the ages there have been ways we IDENTIFY BLIND PEOPLE...
A white cane? A beggars cup and sunglasses?
F. IN JESUS DAYS BLIND PEOPLE WORE A CERTAIN COLORED COAT TO IDENTIFY
