Calming the perfect storm

Part 2

Opening:

1. Last week we learned there can be several responses to the reversal that come in our life.

a. We can take what life hands us and try and make the best of it

b. Get mad, depressed, throw up our hands

c. Or we can try and discern what is going on around us and with the aid that God has given us, and then employ heavenly principles in an earthly world.

2. And last week we learned that when the spiritual collides with the natural, the natural takes flight

The healing of lepers, giving sight to the blind, raising the dead, all are the effects of the spiritual colliding with the natural.

No sickness, no death, no poverty exist in heaven. When we pull that realm into this one, all that is inferior falls away.

I am indebted to Bill Johnson, a pastor in Redding, California for some of these thoughts as well as getting me to change my message last evening.

Text: Mark 4:35-40

A. Taking authority over the situations in your life

1. You only have authority over the storm you can sleep in, When heaven invades earth,

2. Jesus expects us to take authority over that which he has given us authority

B. We need to first pray and then discern HIS WILL in these situations before try and take authority over them

1. You cannot control that which you have no authority to control

2. We will learn through trial and error – settle that now

C. Take heed… to the word we have received

1. Luke 8:4-18 account of the sower sowing the word and Jesus telling us to be careful of the word we have heard.

2. Expound on Jesus telling us to take heed to the logos we have heard.

How many times during the day does God come to us and we simply shrug it off and say… tomorrow?

3. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word rhema of God. (Romans 10:17)

a. So then, faith comes into our hearts when God speaks (not spoken) his word to us

b. Like at a revival meeting - the word preached comes alive within our hearts and God begins to ask us questions…

C. We have the spiritual DNA for the supernatural,

It is abnormal for a Christian not to have an appetite for the impossible.

It has been written into our spiritual DNA to hunger for the impossibilities around us and to bow at the name of Jesus when we see his power displayed.

D. Too often, we are convinced more of our unworthiness, then his worth,

Our inability takes on greater focus than does his ability

Do you see what we have just done? We have focused on ourselves instead of him.
