Summary: Jacob received the blessing.. what did this entail?
Blessed 2
Jacob
Wealth vs. blessing.
So, what exactly is a blessing?
We read from scripture that Jacob got the blessing.
What happened to him after he was blessed?
i. ) He fled from his brother who planned to kill him. He fled with apparently nothing but the clothes on his back. Genesis 27:41-45. Leaving all the wealth of his father Isaac and Abraham behind . He leaves all this behind and goes with a blessing.
ii. ) On arrival in nowhere, he sleeps with a stone as his pillow and The MOST HIGH visits him and speaks to him. Jacob wakes up and doesn’t even say “Amen” but instead makes a vow perhaps forgetting what YAHWEH, The MOST HIGH has just told him in the previous verse.
iii.) He falls into the hands of Laban who tries to fleece him but for YAH. He leaves with four wives and eleven sons.
iv.) His beloved Rachel steals her father’s idol.. why can’t she leave those damn things alone . She,his beloved Rachel, dies in childbirth giving their child a name he must change.
v.) Fearful, he knows he must meet with Esau but first he fights with an Angel and wins.. And is blessed .. again!
So he plans to meet Esau and
vi.) Then he goes to Shechem, his daughter is raped, sexually violated in today's woke terms, forcefully married off. Trickery ensures and his sons raise hell in Shechem and he has to flee to nowhere.
vii.) Same sons trick him and sell his beloved Joseph and he mourns for days on end. They tell him Joseph is dead, what a burden to carry for years on end.
viii.) Same sons go to Egypt and he is forced to deal with the potential loss of Simeon and Benjamin.
Same sons make his heart stop a little when they tell him Joseph is alive and they’re all moving to Egypt like right now.
ix.) He goes to Egypt meets Joseph and Pharaoh and tells Pharaoh that he, Jacob, has lived an evil life.
x.) He sees Joseph’s kids
xi.) He leaves instructions about his end and his burial in Machpelah.
He dies after prophesying and in the middle of prophesying about one of his sons he calls out to YAH to help him
xii.) He gets a state funeral.
And that is Jacob the blessed.
So, Beloved, what is all this blessing about.
To be blessed is to be set apart by YAHWEH for HIS purposes.
To be blessed calls for courage, patience, perseverance and unwavering faith in The MOST HIGH.
Contrary to what many believe, blessing is not the presence of millions in your bank, many properties here and there, a luxurious life flaunted everywhere.
Wealth is good, Abraham, Isaac, David and the patriarchs had plenty of it but they are blessed because they were servants of THE MOST HIGH and walked the path HE had set apart for them.
Scripture says “Seek ye first The Kingdom of YAHWEH and all these things shall be added unto you.
To be blessed is to be sanctified, to be holy, to be sacred and to be set apart.
Chew on this: The blessings of The MOST HIGH make rich and add no sorrow.
Beloved, the scripture informs us, "And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:15.
Do you want to know JESUS as your personal Lord and Savior? Your eternity is at stake! JESUS has opened the door of salvation to every person. But there is coming a day when the door will be closed. Today is the day of salvation. Choose to be in the family of GOD. JESUS died so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with HIM. Don't delay! And if you want to begin a relationship with GOD or resume a broken one, say this: O GOD, I come to YOU today. I know I am a sinner. I believe that JESUS died on the cross to save me and HE resurrected on the third day. I repent of my sins and forsake them. I confess JESUS as my LORD and SAVIOR . I invite JESUS into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am saved. Thank YOU JESUS for saving me and making me a child of GOD. Amen
