Summary: The main point of this sermon is that miracles can take place when we do our part and depend on God to direct the ministry.

John 6: 1 – 21

Intro: Children can ask some really difficult questions regarding religion such as: “Who made all the planets?” or “How come God doesn’t do miracles any more?”

I Perhaps God performed these miracles to demonstrate to humanity their inadequacy.

A VS 7 “It would take half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

What man could not do; God in Christ Jesus did. (See VSS. 11 – 13)

B VS 19 “When they had rowed about 3 or 4 miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened.”

What man could not do; God in Christ Jesus was able to do.

II God can do what we cannot.

A We can’t walk on water or feed 5,000 people; but, that should not keep us from doing what we can. We may feel that our little bit is like a drop in a bucket.

B God’s math is different than ours. God does not need our gifts. But, God does expect us to do what we can to bring about God’s kingdom on earth.

Concl: God does not want us to wait until we have enough to do God’s work and will. We must give knowing that it is not what we give but God’s miracle which changes the world.
