Do You Really Want To Help Your Child Some More? Series

Our soul where a myriad of experiences continue to leave a mark on a daily basis -some great and some pretty awful -is also the venue from which we reason with things and respond to things. The greatest accomplishment a person can achieve is when he or she is able to process life's distasteful circumstances with a positive attitude. Not so much because they want to impress God or they want to impress those around them. But because they believe wholeheartedly that God never takes a break and also because they want to preserve their innocence as long as they can. Matthew 18:3 reads, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

The innocence of the soul is of great importance for God. That's why He loves the children the way He does. He even loves our children more than we are able to love them. So much so that God uses them as an example. Matthew 21:15-16 explains, "But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, 'Hosanna to the Son of David,' they were indignant. 'Do you hear what these children are saying?' they asked him. 'Yes,' replied Jesus, 'have you never read: from the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise?'”

God also includes a warning regarding those with purity of the heart and innocence of the soul. Matthew 18:10 "See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven."

So whether we have had a smooth sailing kind of life or life has been nothing but an obstacle course; we are to hold on to our God-given attributes. Though they pose a great threat to the enemy; they are also the most effective weapons we'll ever have. Through daily prayers and supplications, we must ask God to change us and help us reclaim that which we might have lost along the way. Matthew 18:4-5 explains, “Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me."

So it is not necessary to worry about our children if we have done our very best to raise them the right way and we continue to cover them with our daily prayers. What we ought to be more concerned about is if we may have used them to unleash our personal frustrations or we may have taught them certain bad habits that will hinder their earthly walk. And if and when we find an area we could have used better parenting skills; God expects us to come forth and ask forgiveness. As we start reaching for an internal peace with repentance; we'll see that even some of the turmoils revolving around our children's lives also start dissipating one by one.
