Summary: Let’s take a look at this chapter and learn what it takes for a revival to occur.

WHEN WILL REVIVAL COME?

II CORINTHIANS 7:2-16

INTRODUCTION: Let’s take a look at this chapter and learn what it takes for a revival to occur. Revival will come when:

I. God’s People Get Right with One Another (v.2-5)

See Matt. 5:23. The church at Corinth had broken Paul’s heart. They had criticized his ministry, doubted his word and rejected his apostleship. He was hurt and wished to be reconciled to them. Take note that it was Paul who was wronged, yet he’s the one who initiated the process. At the heart of every true revival is a burdened and crushed individual. He pleaded with them to open their hearts and receive him.

II. People Care Enough to Confront (8)

Paul had confronted this church with a painful letter. “Many a church has gone down to defeat and shame because nobody was brave enough to stand up and call God’ people to do what was right.” (Bob Marcaurelle) Oftentimes confrontation is unwise but there are times when confrontation is a must.

III. There is Godly Sorrow that Leads to Repentance (v.6-11)

Through Paul’s painful letter the church had been lead to sorrow. This sorrow had lead to transformation. Paul had heard this good news and he rejoiced. In v.11 you see the results of this sorrow.

IV. People Get Serious about Obedience (v.12-16)

See v.15.

CONCLUSION: God, revive us again!
