So Why Are Bad Things Happening To Good People? Series

God created a special place for his beloved children: the garden of Eden where we were meant to have an eternal fellowship with him. He made us after his own image and decorated us with his own attributes such as the ability to think; reason; speak; create; love; increase; experience the many levels of joy and happiness. God's plan of salvation was meant for anyone and everyone who recognized Christ as their Lord and Savior. That same plan involving the Cross is still drawing us near to God every single day.

God has continued to love us in spite of our fallen state and He will never stop because He is the essence of Love. Just like He is the essence of Good, Grace, Mercy, Compassion and Kindness. God is more involved in our lives, especially during our troubled times, than we will ever know because, from where He stands, his relationship with us has never been interrupted. We may feel the distance due to the opposing forces of this world and think maybe, just maybe, God is not paying enough attention to all that's happening to us. But that's never the truth. God has never been distant, and He is not about to be. We only start thinking that way if and when the enemy is getting under our skin.

One of the nagging questions that keep popping up quite frequently, especially while we're going through some difficult times is this: so why does God allow bad things happen to good people? That's nothing new! The adversary has always tried to sever our relationship with God because he cannot stand it. That's what got him kicked out of heaven in the first place. He got jealous of our relationship with God then and he still is. So he will do anything to cause us to question God's omnipotence as well as his omnipresence. And if and when he is able to create even a tiny divide between us; then he knows he has a better chance of controlling us. He will continue to pounce on an area where we feel the most vulnerable until we start complaining and questioning God.

As the biggest loser there ever was, the enemy can and will come up with a zillion excuses to harass us because that's all he's got left to do. But the only good reason he has is if and when both our testimony and stewardship become a threat to his plots and schemes. Only then will we see him use desperate measures to exhaust us in order to get us out of the game. If we have a smooth sailing kind of life without any difficulties, we might want to see which direction our free will is taking us. It would be a good time to fall on our knees and ask God to reveal certain details about our lives that might be a bit blurry for us to see.

Remember one thing though: the enemy either continues to mess with us until our relationship with God is somewhat damaged or withdraws for a little while just so he can come up with a dirtier plan. But he never quits!

And there are times he might think he's won during which the injury is so deep and so painful that walking away without a retribution becomes the real challenge for us. Trying to take matters into our own hands is like saying to God; "I don't quite like the way you have been handling the situation so far. So let me show you how it's done!" Romans 12:19 reads, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." God has called us to have a peaceful existence both within and without. When we walk away from a hurtful situation without any efforts to retaliate; we are actually submitting the guilty person to their own conscience which is exactly what the Holy Spirit works on. He convicts people through their conscience in such a way that only good and fruitful results can come forth. And if the person doesn't have any conscience to deal with; nothing we do or say in hopes of justice will ever be effective. If anything; we may end up turning a simple lesson in humility into a huge humiliation by stooping to a level way too low for God's precious children. So the bottom line is; our trust in God has to be so solid that nothing the enemy concocts will ever cause us to question our God's ability to right the wrong.
