Multiplication Led to Murmuring - 1,

and Ministry Led to Multiplication - 7.
1. The Complaint - It's -
Time - 1 And in those days,
Test - when the number of the disciples was multiplied,
Toil - there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews
And Trouble - as their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2. The Called -
A Distinguished Company - 2 Then the twelve
A Diverse Company - called the multitude of the disciples unto them,
A Discerning Company - and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3. The Calling -
The Position of the Word - and said, It is not reason
The Perception of the Word - that we should leave the word of God,
The Perfection of the Word - and serve tables.
The Scriptures Are:
PRECIOUS - Psa. 19:9 the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
PERFECT - Psa. 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:
POWERFUL -
Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
PURE - Psa. 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words:
as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
PURIFYING - Psa 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way
by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
PROFITABLE - 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
And PERFECTING - 17 that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Spurgeon "if god calls to be a minister don't stoop to be a king"
1. The Introduction of the scriptures - Their Preeminence
2 Tim 3:15 and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
2. The Instruction of the scriptures - Their Power
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
3. The Indoctrination of the scriptures - Their Person
through faith which is in Christ Jesus -
4. The Inspiration of the scriptures -
Their Provision - Their -
Scope - 16 All scripture -
Source - is given by inspiration (God-breathed) -
Sovereignty - of God,
Sufficiency - Their Profit -
In Revelation - and is profitable for doctrine, 2 Cor 3:18 we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even by the Spirit of the Lord
In Refutation - for reproof, Titus 1:9 holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. (Elders)
In Restoration - for correction,
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
In Regulation - for instruction in righteousness:
The Grace of God - Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
The Goal of God - 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
The Glory of God - 13 looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
5. The Intention of the scriptures - Their Perfection - To make us -
Established - 17 that the man of God may be perfect, “mature.”
Cols 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith,
Equipped - throughly furnished - The tools to be complete, capable, and competent.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Effective - unto all good works. Titus 2:14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
4. The Competent - 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report,
full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
Spirit Filled - full of the Holy Ghost,
Spirit Fed - and wisdom
Spirit Led - whom we may appoint over this business.
5. The Committed - 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
6. The Compliant - 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6 whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7. The Compelled - 7 And the word of God increased;
and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly;
and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
