By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

Heb.12:1 gives us an imperative command to lay aside weights and sins.

TEXT:

Hebrews 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND SIN WHICH DOTH SO EASILY BESET US, AND LET SO RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US...

Let us ponder Laying aside weight to attain victory.

This is the 10th in series of Remove the weights, text, Heb. 12:1

XI. Remove the weight of Worry

I am wearing a backpack with 40 pounds of rock,

the first rock was labeled SIN. This rock is labeled Tongue: Worry.

I have a friend remove the one rock from my backpack,

I have painted the word worry on the rock.

I have SIN the biggest rock, it is a little larger than three fist,

the rest are little bigger than soft ball size.

I note my load is getting lighter as I remove the weights.

Today the 10th rock is removed.

I wear the back pack for the whole

TEXT:

Text Phil. 4:6 LB ... Worry about nothing, instead pray about everything and then thank Him for the answers.

Luke 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and looking after the things which are coming...

XI. REMOVE THE PROFITLESS WEIGHT OF WORRY.

. We are likely to carry these useless weights until they become hindrances to our growth.

Heb.12:1 gives us an imperative command to lay aside weights and sins.

We will not lay aside anything until we see the potential for danger.

WORRY IS A CHOICE, A POOR CHOICE, LAY IT ASIDE.

Text Phil. 4:6 LB ... Worry about nothing, instead pray about everything

and then thank Him for the answers.

A. DEFINE WORRY ...

ill affect on peace of mind,

choke, strangle,

to harass by tearing, biting, snapping at throat,

to disturb something repeatedly,

to get rough or aggressive,

PERSISTENT NAGGING ATTENTION,

TO AFFLICT WITH MENTAL DISTRESS OR AGITATION,

INCESSANT GOADING THAT DRIVES ONE TO DESPERATION.

To disturb peace of mind,

petty burdensome demands that exhaust nerves,

heavy oppression, repetitive petty attacks.

B. POINTS TO PONDER ON WORRY...

As more bricks make the load heavier...

the more possessions the great the chance of worry.

///You only pass this way once, it is a short visit.

Don’t hurry, don’t worry...Take time to smell the roses.

///Humans are the only creature that has learned to worry.

We worry away our future, discontent with the present, unable to sit still, unable to face the idea of death.

///The devil will have you continually crossing streams that do not exist.

///Blessed is the man that is to busy to worry in the day, and to sleepy to worry at night.

///ALL WORRY IS LIKEN TO ATHEISM, BECAUSE IT IS WANT TO TRUST GOD.

C. WORRY IS BIRTHED FROM THE DESIRE THAT

THE THINGS WE THINK SHOULD HAPPEN DON’T

THE WAY WE THINK, OR WISH?

NOT GOD’S WILL? BUT OURS?

Man sees life like a puzzle,

we see one piece at a time.

God has a "BIGGER PICTURE."

The young recruit does not always understand what the drill sergeant is doing.

But there are lessons to learn.

We mistake God with Santa Claus, to make our wish list complete.

Healing is more than "to get out of pain," healing is to raise a testimony.

We fail because we can’t see the eternal.

DON’T FORGET HEAVEN.

D. WORRY IS FEAR, WORRY AND FEAR AFFECT HEALTH ...

Luke 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear,

and looking after the things which are coming...

Problems with blood pressure, circulation, heart, lungs,

glands, nervous system have a direct correlation to fear/worry.

Most people don’t die from work...

but many die from doubt, fear, worry.

E. THERE IS NO PROFIT IN WORRY.

There is a great lesson in Luke 12: 21--26.

Where is your treasure?

Do you invest in unprofitable treasures?

Take no thought for life or raiment. Life is MORE THAN food and clothes. Does your worry change your height or hair color?

If your worry not able to change these little things, WHY WORRY?

You know better.

F. WORRY DRIVES YOU, YOU DON’T DRIVE IT.

No matter how often you practice worry, things never occur the way you worried.

Man must learn to control his emotions.

A mark immaturity is lacking in control.
