THE STORY MUST CHANGE (1) - POWER OF FAITH
MARK 5: 35-43
The power of faith changes the story of a man to his glory. There can be no positive change in life condition and situation without the force of faith. Since creation, God desired that men place their faith in Him. Without faith, there is no shift or testimony. The people of old were people of faith and they did great exploits for the Lord. Some of their stories were recorded for us. When you remove faith from Christianity, it becomes a mere religion, with emptiness. Hence Jesus changed a situation in our texts by the power of faith.
MARK 5:35-43
“While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's house saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further? But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe. And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and many weeping and wailing greatly. And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and goeth in where the child was. And taking the child by the hand, he saith unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. And straightway the damsel rose up, and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were amazed straightway with a great amazement. And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he commanded that something should be given her to eat”
Jairus, the ruler of the Synagogue came to Jesus for the healing of his little daughter. He just needed the touch of the Master on the situation. He came with all faith he had. He knew what the presence of the Lord could do in his house. As Jesus was going to meet the condition and to do something positive about it, He was intercepted with another issue which had lasted for twelve years. He met an extra- faith from a woman who had exhausted all that she had. She had her recovery and deliverance from Jesus. Her faith saw her through.
Jesus decided to continue His journey to the house of the ruler. Another message came from the house that the young lady was dead. The Master cannot be stopped on His mission. He came to the house of commotion. When He entered inside the house with few of His disciples and the parents of the child, the story changed automatically. The house of commotion turned to a house of joy and feast. The Lord can do the same for you today, if you can only believe Him!
