The weakest Link Pt 2
We’ve discovered how the tongue is the mixer, that brings the ingredients of our faith together, We saw how Joshua and Caleb mixed faith with the promises of God, and how the rest did not.
We saw that their failure to mix faith with the promises of God kept them out of the promise land.
We saw that the tongue is mixing either faith or unbelief, The tongue is either the instrument of life or of death
*We see how vital the link is between what we confess and what we possess.
*We found that faith in the heart overflows from the mouth.
*We found that whatever is in abundance in the heart overflows from the mouth whether good or bad.
*We found that our faith keeps step with our confession.
We understand that there is no such thing as silent faith, faith always makes it’s presence known through a strong confession.
Ps 116:10 I believed, therefore have I spoken:
Paul quoting David said:
2Co 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
Phm 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Communication (Koinonia) = fellowship, association, community, communion, joint participation,
1a) the share which one has in anything,
Our share of What belongs to us in Christ becomes effectual or active and operative by our acknowledging of every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus.
*We find that what God has said is the legal aspect of our faith, but it is what we say about what God has said that establishes it in our lives and makes it a vital or living reality.
#1 The obvious truth is that it is impossible to have a confession in agreement with God if you do not know what God has said.
Ho 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
So we must study the word of God.
#2 Once we know what God has said it is our responsibility to establish that truth in our lives by agreeing with God with our confession of faith.
Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
The faith God had overflowed from his mouth.
Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Faith is born in the heart but it is released through the mouth
Mt 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
Mr 5:23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
Before the tongue can become the instrument of life Many times it must be healed
There is a disease among cattle called Hoof & Mouth disease, I do not exactly what that is but I do know it has to do with the foot and the mouth.
In the spiritual realm our feet or walk is very much dependant upon our mouths, If our mouths are out of alignment then our walk is going to be inconsistent and unstable.
Ps 50:23 Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
There are several diseases of the tongue that can destroy the faith walk of the believer
#1 Excessive talking ( There is a phrase: Loose lips sink ships, The thought is that someone who talks all the time will eventually say something they shouldn’t say). The bible says it this way.
Pr 10:19 ¶ In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin:
Eph 5:1-2 ¶ Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
Then it really gets tight Vs 3
3.a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.
#2 Idle or Careless Words: These are words that are spoken with the knowledge that maybe you will maybe you won’t They are words that carry no weight because you have not committed yourself to stand behind them.
