THE PURPOSE OF JESUS CHRIST

1 Timothy 1: 15 – 17

INTRODUCTION: What is so special about Jesus?

THESIS: It is my fundamental belief that the most abused, misused, and misapplied concept in Christendom is in the Biblical understanding of the purpose of Jesus.

TRANSITION TO THE TEXT: This message is another doctrinal study that is preached out of a doctrinal book. First Timothy is a book written for the pastor and the people of the local church.

Let’s analyze the “sweet peas” of this passage in order to understand His purpose:

1. THE INCOMPARABLE PERSON -- “Christ Jesus”

In order to understand who Jesus is, one must understand him from his mother’s side as well as his father’s side.

2. THE INCOMPARABLE PURPOSE -- “He came into the world to save sinners

It was promised and prophesied that He (Jesus) would come.

Why did Jesus come?

He came because He WANTED TO not because He was forced to.

He came because He CHOSE TO not because He was required to.

He came because He DESIRED TO not because He was commanded to.

3. THE INCOMPARABLE POSITION -- “…King Eternal…”

Apostle Paul gives the benediction (the blessing) before he finishes writing this chapter!
