Summary: What kind of person leads a high impact life?
INTRODUCTION
What kind of person leads a high impact life?
1. THERE ARE FOUR ESSENTIALS OF A HIGH IMPACT LIFE
Jesus says that a person who leads a high impact life will be …
a. Poor in spirit
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:30 NIV).
Poor but not destitute; the kingdom of heaven belongs to you.
b. Mournful
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4 NIV).
Although you mourn you do not live in despair because you know the presence of the Divine Comforter.
c. Meek
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5 NIV).
Meek but not a deadbeat. You carry yourself through life like you own the world – because you do!
d. Hungry and thirsty
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled (Matthew 5:6 NIV).
Hungry and thirsty but not desperate. You are filled.
2. A HIGH IMPACT LIFE IS EXPRESSED BY WHAT WE DO
Jesus says that a person who leads a high impact life will …
a. Be merciful
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy (Matthew 5:7 NIV).
High impact people are today’s Good Samaritans.
b. Be pure in heart
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God (Matthew 5:8 NIV).
High impact people have one pure aim in life an that is to share their Christian happiness with others.
c. Be a peacemaker
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God (Matthew 5:9 NIV).
High impact people work towards making peace man to man and God to man.
3. A HIGH IMPACT LIFE WILL EXPERIENCE THREE OUTCOMES.
Jesus says that a person who leads a high impact life will experience …
a. Persecution
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:10 NIV).
High impact people are the conscience of our society and can make you unpopular.
b. Condemnation
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me (Matthew 5:11 NIV).
A high impact Believer should never deserve persecution, but they should expect it.
c. Joy and blessing
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:12 NIV).
Jesus says that the high impact life is a life lived under God’s blessing now and for eternity.
CONCLUSION
The Rev Martin Luther King lived a short but high impact life. He once said …
“…if I can help somebody as I pass along,
If I can cheer someone with a word or a song,
If I can show somebody he is travelling wrong,
Then my living will not be in vain.
If I can do my duty as a Christian ought,
If I can bring salvation to a world overwrought,
If I can spread the message the Master taught,
Then my living will not be in vain.”
Don’t live in vain.
