THE FOUR LETTER WORD
“Flow with the Holy Spirit Rob”
What a weekend we had last week. It was awesome to see God moving with the young people. It was great to see almost 700 people come through these doors as we had the opportunity to host the city.
Tonight we are going top look at a dangerous subject. A subject that is like a plaque to many young even some of you here tonight. This thing we are going to look at, young people cringe when they have to do it, they make excuses to back out of it. Tonight we are going to look at the dreaded curse word WORK.
Genesis 2
1 So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2On the seventh day, having finished his task, God rested from all his work. 3And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from his work of creation. 4This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth.
God is a worker.
Lets look at a couple of words tonight
Slack, slacker, lazy, passive, apathetic, loser, lukewarm, slofulness, procrastination
The number one enemy against Jolgen is passiveness
God did not call you to do nothing
The enemy is not interested in you stopping what you are doing, but he is interested in when we start doing something for God
The enemy wants to keep us from doing good things for God
Proverbs 18:9
9He who is loose and slack in his work is brother to him who is a destroyer and [1] he who does not use his endeavors to heal himself is brother to him who commits suicide. –AMP-
9Slack habits and sloppy work are as bad as vandalism. –MSG-
If you look at some of the biggest youth churches in North America. They didn’t just get big because they good singing, a place to meet, great speakers. They grew because people worked to see growth come. They got a vision from God and worked to see it happen
God worked six days and rested one (Biblical Pattern)
The devil is trying get us to buy into an effortless society
God has called us to work
If will begin to catch this message we will begin to see a major breakthrough if we are willing to work, a heart and mind to work
Proverbs 10
4Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.
You need to work to see things happen. Marriage, friends, abs of steel, money
Tonight we are going to look at a couple of areas of our life.
In our generation work has become a curse word(call them a worker)
Spiritual Life, Campus Life, Home Life
God hates a life that is out of balance
Working out big chest, small legs
Luke 6
40A student is not greater than the teacher. But the student who works hard will become like the teacher.
Look at all the shortcuts we try to take to make things happen because we don’t want to work at them
We want a free ride!
But on the flip side if it is something that we want we are willing to move heaven and earth to make it happen Bus, walk, crawl, to be with girls, friends. Young people will work at what they want to do(snow board, pierce)
When it comes to an event can’t go unless you pay pastor Rob
Proverbs 21
5The thoughts of the [steadily] diligent tend only to plenteousness, but everyone who is impatient and hasty hastens only to want.
What does diligence mean
The quality of being diligent; carefulness; careful attention; -- the opposite of negligence.
2. Interested and persevering application; devoted and painstaking effort to accomplish what is undertaken; assiduity in service.
conscientiousness in paying proper attention to a task; giving the degree of care required in a given situation 2: persevering determination to perform a task;
Our problem is our mind is like a television with 90 channels
You need to work to get what you want
One of the devils greatest words is “LATER”
If we are going to grow as a youth church and as individuals we need to work at it
Spiritual Life
Matthew 25
The Story of the Virgins
1"God’s kingdom is like ten young virgins who took oil lamps and went out to greet the bridegroom. 2Five were silly and five were smart. 3The silly virgins took lamps, but no extra oil. 4The smart virgins took jars of oil to feed their lamps. 5The bridegroom didn’t show up when they expected him, and they all fell asleep.
Q: When you become a Christian does it mean you instantly become stupid not wise
For us to grow and you to grow you need to carry some extra oil
