"Picking Up From What Was Started In This New Season” Pt. 1 Series

Intro: This is the first message in a series entitled “Casting the Vision.” Today I want to begin with “Picking up from what was started”, the text I chose is in no disrespect to those that have formerly served behind this pulpit, but is commending those that have served in the past. Everything that has happened from the good and the bad I must believe it was God’s will, and from that plan and for all that have led it was done for His glory. Church your best days are not in the former but will be in the latter. The work that was planted on these 4 ½ acres of land between Summit Ave. and cherry ln. will soon show forth it’s fruit and there will be multiplication. Church I am not a farmer but I know that there are some seeds that are planted that can take years before they begin to sprout. This house I believe has come to its season. Solomon tells us to everything there is a season, his father said in Ps 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. This house will be like Aaron’s rod and show forth life and a testimony that we are a HOUSE OF GOD! Deu. 29:29. This is our season our TIME!

I. Preparing the way

Moses pointed the people in the right direction. He was a Hebrew that was spared the death sentence of Pharaoh; he would be raised by the sister of the man that signed the death warrant on all young Hebrew boys.

He would grow up in comfort of a palace but it would be his heritage that would cause him to murder an Egyptian in defense of one of his own people, such an act caused him to flee and take refuge in the desert becoming a shepherd.

He would marry and begin his new life only to find himself on the back side of the mountain where he would have an encounter with the living God; it was such an encounter that changed his life and a call to leave his sheep to become a shepherd for God’s people, and take them out of Egypt and into the presence of the Father. For Moses’ love and faith in God he would find himself in the hall of faith recorded in (Hebrews 11:23-29) (23)By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.(24) By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;(25) Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;(26) Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.(27) By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.(28) Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.(29) By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

God desired His people and called them out to Himself so that they too can share in the same relationship that Moses had. They would be taught God’s way all the while being taken to their promise their inheritance.

Through much rebellion and heartache Moses led the people as he did his sheep to good land. Moses would stand in the gap for these people and put himself on the line for their sake. The people did not always understand or were the most corporative bunch but he led them because he loved them and wanted them to know God just as he did.

Moses was given the great honor of being called a friend of God and he wanted the Hebrew nation to know and

share that honor as well. The people would break his heart but never his spirit or his love for God and them.

He followed the Father so that he could lead the people. He would stand in God’s presence and would be allowed to see his hand write the Law and then watch as the Almighty would walk by only to catch a glimpse of His back.

(Optional read Exodus 33:18-23) (18) And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.19) And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.(20) And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.(21) And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:(22) And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:(23) And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
