Making A Difference Starts With Me Series
Contributed by Mariah Cook on Nov 16, 2010 (message contributor)
Summary: We all want to make a difference in the world, but stop because we don't know where to start. It starts with me.
Making a Difference Starts With Me.
BIG IDEA: God created you to TAKE ACTION
God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.Ephesians 2:10 NCV
Each person has a God given MISSION to accomplish.
He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. 2 Cor 1:4 MSG
1. Turn INTENTION into ACTION
A brother or sister in Christ might need clothes or food. If you say to that person, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat,” but you do not give what that person needs, your words are worth nothing. In the same way, faith by itself—that does nothing—is dead.
James 2:15-17 NCV
Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, commits sin. James 4:17 NRSV
2. Turn WHEN into NOW
“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4 NLT
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad today! Psalm 118:24 NCV
3. PICK and CHOOSE
Enthusiasm without knowledge is not good. If you act too quickly, you might make a mistake. Proverbs 19:2 NLT
4. Turn your WHOLE Heart toward Jesus
God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace. So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God. 2 Cor 5:19-20 NVC
Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away. It is for everyone the Lord our God calls to himself.”Act 2:38-39 NCV
Bottom Line: Take Action.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23 NIV
