Love

1 The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. 2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— For your love is better than wine. 3 Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, your name is ointment poured forth; therefore the virgins love you. 4 Draw me away! We will run after you . The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will remember your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you. 5 I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. 6 Do not look upon me, because I am dark, because the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept. 7 Tell me, O you whom I love, where you feed your flock, where you make it rest at noon. For why should I be as one who veils herself by the flocks of your companions? 8 If you do not know, O fairest among women, follow in the footsteps of the flock, and feed your little goats beside the shepherds’ tents. 9 I have compared you, my love, to my filly among Pharaoh’s chariots. 10 Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with chains of gold. 11 We will make you ornaments of gold with studs of silver. 12 While the king is at his table, my spikenard sends forth its fragrance. 13 A bundle of myrrh is my beloved to me, that lies all night between my breasts. 14 My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blooms in the vineyards of En Gedi. 15 Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes. 16 Behold, you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant! Also our bed is green. 17 The beams of our houses are cedar, and our rafters of fir.

We now come across a book in the bible that I have not seen too many Pastors’ wanting to teach. Recently one well-known Pastor, who should be ashamed of himself, took this book and turned it into an erotic message that would have made secular hosts blush. Others have just steered clear of this wonderful book because they are uncomfortable teaching it. Our Wonderful Holy Spirit has given this book for our learning and understanding. If taken seriously and given the honor due to our Adoni Holy Ghost, it is beautiful beyond anything we have studied. I hope that you will not only enjoy the teaching of our Precious God but see Him in a more personal and intimidate relationship.

We know who wrote this book. It was Solomon.

1 The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.

We find in the book of 1 Kings chapter 4 that Solomon wrote over 1000 songs, “32 He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.” The Song that our Mighty God included in His Holy book from all of Solomon’s is this one. It means ‘The loveliest of songs.’ I believe we will discover that it truly is the most amazing and loveliest one.

At first sight this song appears to be just a love song between two people in love. Some commentaries state that God is not even mentioned in this book. I will point out to you in the following chapters that He Is indeed, not only mentioned, but Is active in these lovers lives, as well as He Is involved in everything in the universe.

Allegorically this song pictures the nation of Israel as God’s betrothed bride as we read in the book of Hosea chapter 2, “19 “ I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in loving kindness and mercy; 20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the LORD.” In addition it symbolically describe Christ Jesus and His church as the book of Ephesians chapter 5 teaches us, 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
