Introduction

It is proper for us to start by looking at the principle of redemption. Redemption properly means ransom by means of a price.

Old Testament

Exodus 6:5

Where specific price is paid redemption also refers to deliverance from danger, oppression and captivity.

Zimbabwe:

For Zimbabwe to become an independent sovereign nation. Blood was shed and the oppressor suffered the loss of peace and dear sons and this was the price that secured our freedom from Apartheid.

Redemption involves use of a substitute

Isaiah God gave the nations of Egypt, Ethiopia and Seba to be destroyed in the instead and in the place of Israel.

In the New Testament Jesus Christ was was bruised for our transgression

He had to be one of us

Kinsman redeemer

He had to become one of us in order to redeem us

Conclusion

He paid the price. We are free.
