MOSES (EXODUS 14:13)

In the 14th chapter of Exodus we see that the Israelites are complaining to Moses. Pharaoh and the Egyptians had just caught up with Moses and the Israelites at the Red Sea. When we look at the 12th verse it tells us that the Israelites began to doubt God and his servant Moses and started to believe that it would have been better for them just to go back to Egypt that in which was the lands that God had Moses bring them out of, and serve Pharaoh and his apprentices. But it goes on in the 13th verse were we here Moses tell the Israelites to STAND FIRM and then they’ll see the deliverance that in which God has in store for them. Which brings me to my first point of having an ATTITUDE OF SERVITUDE; we’ve got to stand firm.

*WHY DO YOU THINK WE NEED TO STAND FIRM ON GODS WORD?

In Isaiah the 40th chapter and the 8th verse it states that Gods word stands forever. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? This means that we can expect that Gods word will never fail us; we can always depend on God to lead us in the right directions in any situation. This also brings me to my second point; put your FAITH in God. If we look back at Exodus the 14th chapter and the 13th verse, we see that if the Israelites hadn’t have trusted God nor Moses that they never would have escaped from Pharaoh and his army. We need to learn to cast our cares on the Lord. This also leads me into my next point which is basically telling us that as servants, we need to be DELIVERED out of some of our past situations. We need to go through some CHANGES.

*LETS TAKE THE OPPURTUNITY TO TELL EACH OTHER SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED TO US THIS WEEK. IT CAN BE ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED AT HOME, SCHOOL, AT THE PARK, WHEREVER.

*NOW LETS TAKE A MOMENT TO TELL WAYS IN WHICH WE’VE CHANGED SINCE DAY CARE. AND LET’S ASK QUESTIONS SO THAT WE CAN SPECIFY OUR GROWTH, HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT.

*SINCE WE ALL KNOW THAT WE ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING, LETS TELL EACH OTHER ONE CURRENT AREA OF CHANGE.

*LETS FOCUS ON OUR FUTURE; LET’S TELL ONE THING THAT WE’D WANT TO CHANGE IN THE FUTURE. IT CAN BE ANYTHING LIKE OUR GRADES, THINGS AT HOME, YOUR FAITH LEVEL, YOUR FRIENDS, OR WHATEVER. AND LETS SPEAK SERIOUSLY ON THIS QUESTION.

READ JAMES 1:17

We see that in James the 1st chapter and the 17th verse it tells us that God does not change like shifting shadows. Although God doesn’t change we know that we must change. As Christian men and women we’ve got to go through changes so that we can grow.

READ JAMES 1:22-25

As we grow, though, we have to be obedient and listen to God; for we cannot grow without Gods help. It’s the same as in getting an education; in order to get smarter you have to study. That’s the same in being a servant. As a servant we are to be obedient in/to whatever/however we are doing our service to. Obedience is key to every servant of the Lord. We have to look at God as our parent, as an authority figure. So when God tells you to do something you do it without hesitation.

As I leave you I just encourage each of you to read the entire book of James because it talks about James who was a servant to the Lord our God and his entire book speaks of tests. Tests are what we’ll endure as servants to God. We have to STAND FIRM, HAVE FAITH, KNOW THAT WE WILL BE DELIVERED, AND BE WILLING TO CHANGE and learn from those tests and experiences that we face from day to day.
