Often the words and feelings expressed at the death of a loved one is sadness, grief, and sorrow. But because of some things I know and believe. I’m glad.

1. Jesus was glad which means to rejoice, be of good cheer. Then only time in the Bible that Jesus was glad.

2. This body is my mother, my friend, I have wept and will weep.

3. Why and How can I be glad.

I. Because of Friends and Loved Ones

1. John 11:11-15

2. Jesus was speaking to Lazarus’s friends and loved ones.

3. I’m speaking to:

a. Friends who have lost a friend.

b. Husband who has lost a wife.

c. A brother and sister who lost a mother.

d. Glad children who lost a grandmother.

4. So, the 1st thing I’m glad about Pat Harper is that she was my mother.

a. She taught me many things about life.

b. Many memories.

c. She taught me how to love by her love for me.

II. Because I Know and Believe the Word of God

1. I’m glad because I know I will see my mother again.

2. Paul said, “Absent from the body is present with the Lord.”

3. I’m glad I know mom was saved.

4. I’m glad I know the Bible way of salvation.

5. We are saved by grace.

6. Ephesians 2:8-9

7. There is no way that I would try and tell you that my mother was a spiritual saint.

a. She did not go to church every Sunday.

b. She did not read her bible every day.

c. Etc.

8. I am glad I know what the Bible says about death.

a. 2 Thessalonians 4:13

b. We are not to be ignorant, unlearned. I am not ignorant.

c. We are not to sorrow. I do not feel sorrow.

d. We are not to be without hope. I do have hope.

e. We are not to be without comfort or encouragement. I am comforted.

9. I am glad I know who holds tomorrow: my future eternity is Heaven.
