Summary: First commandment. Acrostic on the word FIRST.

The Ten Commandments # 1
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me".
F-I-R-S-T
F - Fundamental ("no other gods").
I - Individual ("Thou").
R - Rational ("I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage").
S - Special (Christ echoes the first commandment by His words to Satan in Matthew 4:10 - "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve"). T - Trial ( "the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ", Galatians 3:24).
’When free grace awoke me, by light from on high,
Then legal fears shook me, I trembled to die;
No refuge, no safety in self could I see—
Jehovah Tsidkenu my Saviour must be’.
