A SLING AND A STONE
Heroes of Faith – Part 1 of 8
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down Goliath and killed him. (1 Samuel 17:50)
If I am to defeat the “Goliaths” in my life:
1. I must be ___trained_______ to trust God.
Your servant has killed both the lion and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them. The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. (1 Sam. 17:36)
2. I must be ____trustworthy_______ in small things.
Early in the morning David left the flock with a shepherd and, loaded up and set out as Jesse, his father had directed him.
(1 Samuel 17:20)
3. I must _______testify____ to what God is doing.
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Sam. 17:45)
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands. (1 Sam. 17:47)
