------------------

GEN. 5: could be called the death chapter because we read about so much death in that chapter, notice the chapter is five.

This chapter reveals man’s value to God by naming individuals and stages in this early human phase, it also shows us that everyone is known and remembered by God, maybe no one else will remember us but God does, have you ever thought about the fact that about two or three generations from now you and I will be history, very few will even know we ever exited, but God remembers, do you know any thing about your great, great, great grand parents? Probably not, but God does.

Often I look in the obituaries of the local news paper and 99% of the time I know none of these recently deceits people, that’s the way it is.

I think of a man named Antipas in Rev. 2:13—Jesus said --- even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Nothing previously is said about this man Antipas or afterward, but Jesus remembered that he was His faithful martyr, if this was not pinned down in the Bible we would have never known any thing at all about Brother Antipas, Jesus wants you and I to see that He does not forget, and like Brother Antipas, all die.

I’ve said all that to say this, all of us are going to die one day that is a solemn fact, unless the rapture should take place and then we that are saved will suddenly be changed into our glorified body.

Hebrews 9: 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Therefore what we do now in our short life span here will have a Hugh bearing on what He will allow us to do for Him yonder in His coming Kingdom and perhaps the New earth as well, our little life time here is only the preparation time for us to get ready to live forever more.

--------

Also Gen.5: demonstrates the reign of death by the repeated words—“and he died” over and over, also we have a picture of deaths defeat by RAPTURE in the taking of Enoch.

-----------------------

Chapter 5 is the death chapter of Gen. in this chapter the first man Adam dies and it’s in verse five, chapter 5: verse 5.

The word “DIED” is found 8 times in this chapter 5:-more than any other chapter of Gen.

“Died” is found 7 times in chapter 36:

The word “death” is found 491times in our KJ Bible.

Listen as I read to you these verses in Gen. 5, and notice the first man dies in chapter five and verse five.

Vs. [5] And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

[8] And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

[11] And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

[14] And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.

[17] And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

[20] And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

[27] And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

[31] And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

This chapter tells us that when it’s all said and done all men DIE.

Noah was given a long life as well, of 950 years in Genesis 9:28-29 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. 29And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

That means that Noah was 600 years old when God sent the flood, (6) mans number.
