TEXT:

Hebrews 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND SIN WHICH DOTH SO EASILY BESET US, AND LET SO RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US...

Let us ponder Laying aside weight to attain victory.

For this lesson I went to the Lawn Care place and I purchased about 14 river rocks.

They cost 25 cents a pound.

I got $12.50 worth, I paint the name on each weight on a rock.

(example: SIN, is the biggest rock.)

Average size about the size of two fist.

I have a large back pack I wear on my back, with the rocks (weights) in the back pack.

I have some one remove one weight at a time, thus easing my burden, and we discuss in detail that weight and the consequences if I continue to carry this.

This is series of sermons.

Each weight is laid upon the altar, and will not return to my backpack.

I release them.

I did this a series for 12 services.

The text for the series is:

Hebrews 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND SIN WHICH DOTH SO EASILY BESET US, AND LET SO RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US...

A GOOD COACH, training a basketball player, places sand bags, laced to the shoe and tied around the ankle of his star player. The basket ball player practices, runs, and jumps all week with the weights on his feet.

But right before the game, the coach instructs the player to remove the weights.

It is time to step on the court with stronger muscles, and remove the excess as the seriousness of the game approaches.

We need to remove the heavy things that could become hindrances to our potential.

Burdens, stresses, pressures could hold us back from God’s plan for us.

We need to set a standard of what our priorities need to be, establish relative importance. We need not be oppressed with useless burdens.

A person carrying excessive weight puts extra stress upon the liver, pancreas, the lungs, and the heart.

Many diseases are born by not curbing the appetite.

There are some serious points to ponder about spiritual excessiveness.

Two things can free us from all the weights and pains of life ... #1.The Word of God and ...

#2. LOVE.

Perhaps, no one can tell the weight on another’s back, but we are called to help carry another’s burden.

God raise people that are willing to pull their weight and help another with their load.

May you heed the call to be a WEIGHT REMOVER.

What are the weights which could hindering us...

Let’s ponder....

Remove the weights of:

1. SIN.

2. BLAME.

3. WHERE ARE YOU?

4. LOVE OF MONEY.

5. JEALOUSY.

6. JUDGEMENTALISM.

7. LAZINESS.

8. BITTERNESS/ UNFORGIVENESS.

9. TONGUE.

10. WORRY.

11. PLEASURE AS GOAL.

Please get each set of notes concerning the 11 above mentioned weights.
