1. Return To God, And He Will Return To You (Zechariah 1:1-6)
Contributed on Jan 20, 2026
The new generation is given the same offer as their ancestors: return to me, and I will return to you. This generation makes the right choice-- will we?
Today, we begin a new series in the book of Zechariah. What I like to do, at the start of each series, is recommend a book to all of you, that you can work through as we work through the book. That book, a commentary, will give you a second perspective on the book. Hearing a second voice will ...read more

2. Two Comforting Visions (Zechariah 1:7-21)
Contributed on Jan 21, 2026
There is a type of world peace which God finds profoundly inadequate-- a type where God's people don't participate in its prosperity, and where the wicked have gone unpunished. The 2 visions tag-team, to address this.
Today, we enter into week 2 of our Zechariah study. Last week's verses were kind of an intro to the book, and my guess is that that prophetic word felt "normal." Many of you have heard my earlier series on Haggai, Nahum, and Zephaniah, and Zechariah starts off sounding a lot like ...read more

3. God's Vision: A City Without Measure (Zechariah 2:1-13)
Contributed on Jan 29, 2026
You need to think big, and measure big, to keep up with God's visions. God is able to do far more than we think or ask. Also, what does it look like to flee from Babylon today (cf. Revelation 18:4)
Today, we continue our Zechariah series, in Zechariah chapter 2. In this chapter, we get to read Zechariah's third vision, and then we have an oracle that builds on that vision. But before we dive in, we need to go back to the first vision. What Zechariah saw first, is something we need to ...read more

4. The High Priest Joshua, With Fellow Priests-- A Sign Of Things To Come (Zechariah 3:1-10)
Contributed on Feb 2, 2026
The angel of Yahweh deals with a potentially huge fly in the ointment-- the high priest Joshua's guilt. The adversary's criticism is rejected; Joshua is cleansed, and commissioned, and challenged.
Today, we continue our Zechariah series by entering into Zechariah's fourth vision. Before we dive in, let me offer you a quick recap of the message of the three visions we've studied so far. These visions have been visions that gave hope to God's people at a very difficult time in ...read more

5. God's Servants: Channels Of Golden Oil (Zechariah 4:1-14)
Contributed on Feb 6, 2026
Most of what God does in the world, He does through his Spirit-empowered people, who are channels for his grace. A very high view of ministry; a very high calling.
Today, we have the privilege of entering into perhaps the most mysterious of all of Zechariah's visions. It's a passage where I feel like God opened it up to me in stages, and at each stage, I felt these bursts of pleasure and happiness. This is also a passage with rich symbolism-- but ...read more
