2. Third Seal
Summary: What John is predicting is a situation in which a man’s whole working wage would be needed to buy enough corn for himself for a day, leaving absolutely nothing to buy any of the other necessities of life and absolutely nothing for his wife and family.
6. Sealing Of The 144,000 On Earth
Summary: The sixth seal had been opened, and the people of the earth tried to hide from God, asking who would be able to survive God’s judgment. Just when destruction seemed sure, four angels held back the four winds of judgment until God’s people were sealed.
9. First Trumpet: Third Of Vegetation Destroyed.
Summary: Look up into the sky. Can you envision blazes of fire, streams of blood and great chunks of ice falling upon the earth? Can you imagine all the trees blazing, burning, and going up in smoke— and the grass being burned to a crisp?
10. Second Trumpet: Third Of Sea Creatures And Ships Destroyed
Summary: When the second trumpet sounded, what appeared to be a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea so that a third of it became blood, and a third of the creatures in the sea were killed, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
13. Three-Fold Woe Announced
Summary: Here we have one of the pauses in the narrative which the Revelation uses so effectively. Three fearful woes are to come upon the earth when the remaining three angels sound the last blasts on the trumpets; but for the moment there is a pause . . .
14. Fifth Trumpet: Locusts From The Bottomless Pit, Sent To Torment
Summary: The supernatural creatures released upon the blowing of the fifth trumpet are evil spirits. The description given of their appearance is, at the same time, a description of their character. We are told thirteen things about them.
16. Seventh Trumpet (third Woe): The Victory Of Christ
Summary: The last trump is about to sound, and that will lead to the outpouring of the vials of God’s wrath. But first we are given a glimpse of the crowning in Heaven of God’s rightful king.
18. The Lamb And The 144,000 On Mount Zion
Summary: This is the illustrious company of the 144,000 from the twelve tribes of Israel, who are sealed (Revelation 7). These sealed ones have been preserved unharmed throughout the great tribulation, despite the rage of the dragon and the beast.
20. First Bowl: Sores On Those Who Worshiped The Beast And His Image
Summary: These bowls are only poured out on the enemies of God and of Christ, and of His church and people; for no wrath can be poured out upon the saints, not a single drop can fall upon them, because that would not be consistent with God's everlasting love.
