We embark on a series to examine the consequences of Adam’s sin and how this was addressed by Jesus Christ, not only to restore what Adam and Eve lost, but to restore it in greater measure. In this first consequence we will look at GUILT and SHAME.

Guilt and shame flowed from Adam’s sinful disobedience, and has passed to all, making men sinful cowards. Gloriously, the Lord identified with our guilt and shame, becoming the guilty One and enduring the shame of the cross. We will see how God has brought us into glory.

In this continuing study of the Restoration of God, we look at what sin ruined, the results of that; how the Lord identified with those results, and now what God has restored. This time our theme is SEPARATION. Sin caused separation.

Sin produces cursing. Through the Fall in the garden of Eden, the serpent was cursed. Then the ground and creation was cursed. That is why life is so difficult in many ways. We trace that theme. Then the Law of Moses cursed the keeper, but Christ became a curse for sinners.

The ground was cursed because sin destroyed the harmony in God’s creation. In Part 1 we began the subject, and in this Part 2 we continue with the way Christ identified with the curse and now has restored to us acceptance and spiritual blessings. God has restored more than Adam knew.

This world is overtaken by sorrow in people’s lives. Sorrow came about through the entry of sin in Eden and marks so much of human living. Jesus was the Man of Sorrows and He lived among sorrow and took our sorrows on the cross. His was a sorrowful road as we see what He did for us.

What a ruined state lives are in with devastating sorrow. Sorrow is a result of the fall but what JOY results from the work of Christ. Our faith can be underpinned by an inexpressible joy, bathed in the glory of God. Jesus has done wonderful things changing sorrow into joy.

10. Measure Upon Measure – Death – The Restoration Of God - Part 10 (Section 2)

In this smaller message we look at the way Christ died for the sins of the world to redeem and restore what Adam lost. Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb and fulfils the two goats on the Day of Atonement. His death for the whole world has brought eternal redemption and salvation.

Jesus Christ paved the way to salvation by His own death. He was the Lamb of God, the Suffering One who took on death for all mankind. Provision of salvation does not mean acceptance into salvation. God declared to all men that all everywhere should repent.

Jesus is all about forgiveness and restoration. Through Adam, sin entered and all died. In Christ all can be made alive. What Adam lost, the Lord restored but in greater measure. There are three blessings of restoration and this message looks at the first of them.

Not only did Jesus’ death make us acceptable with the Father but has brought us everlasting life; more than that, the abundant life. All eternity will portray the fruit of Christ's sacrifice. This last section concludes our study on death that we all gained through sin, but Christ brings life!

Adam and Eve had no concept, then, of what a curse would be in reality; what labour pains would be in childbirth; or what hard work and toil would involve in practice. They were condemned and expelled. Jesus was condemned for us and now – justification and pardon.
