1. Why Lamentations?
Contributed on Jun 15, 2024
Contemporary western culture is facing a date with destiny. When God's judgement is unleashed, and it shall surely come, all of us will lament our failure to honour Him or to serve Him.
“How lonely sits the city that was full of people! How like a widow has she become, she who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces has become a slave.” [1] “Lamentations! You’re actually going to preach a series of messages from that dark, foreboding book? ...read more

2. A Survey Of My Grief
Contributed on Jun 22, 2024
Lamentations speaks on behalf of those suffering as he reminds the Lord of how great is the grief experienced. He confesses that the judgement is deserved. In this, he provides a warning to those living in this present culture that they must not presume against the goodness of God.
Grief touches each of us eventually. [1] Though we know we will experience grief as individuals, we sometimes need to be reminded that grief will consume the nation that turns from righteousness while embracing wickedness. Some might suppose that Christians will gloat when judgement at last comes ...read more

3. The Cost Of National Sin
Contributed on Jun 29, 2024
God does judge nations. God's judgement of Israel serves to warn the nations in this day not to presume on God's goodness and mercy.
Sin is expensive! You can’t afford the price demanded when you embrace sin! Though you may play with sin, you are playing a game that is rigged to ensure that you cannot win. You deceive yourself when you imagine you can afford the price you are going to pay. We are warned against inviting sin ...read more

4. Chastisement And Compassion
Contributed on Jul 6, 2024
Even in the midst of national judgement, the follower of Christ the Lord is comforted by the hope Christ gives.
“This hurts me more than it hurts you.” Are those words familiar to you? Do they bring back memories from your childhood? I don’t know if your dad ever spoke those words to you, but my dad said these words more frequently than should ever have been necessary. And I readily admit that I gave him ...read more

5. A Plea From The Pit
Contributed on Jul 13, 2024
God is merciful whenever the sinner seeks Him and His mercy. God will show mercy to the nation, the culture, the society that turns from wickedness to seek His grace.
It distresses me to preach messages that expose sin within the society in which we live. I could wish that I were permitted to speak only pleasant things, to declare a message that was always positive, to affirm our culture as righteous. However, I am compelled to give an answer to the One Who ...read more

6. When The Bottom Drops Out
Contributed on Jul 20, 2024
Even the righteous suffer when judgement is poured out on the nation. God's people are what holds back judgement at this time.
“How the gold has grown dim, how the pure gold is changed! The holy stones lie scattered at the head of every street. “The precious sons of Zion, worth their weight in fine gold, how they are regarded as earthen pots, the work of a potter’s hands!” [LAMENTATIONS 4:1-2] [1] What a dramatic ...read more

7. How Long, O Lord? How Long?
Contributed on Jul 27, 2024
Though the Lord shall judge the nation that practice wickedness, how shall we who follow Christ respond to the evil embraced and promoted within our culture?
When the child of God sins, that child knows that God does not ignore that sin. Because He loves us, the LORD disciplines His people, and His discipline will not be pleasant. God’s discipline was never intended to be pleasant. Divine discipline is intended to impose … well, discipline! Indeed, ...read more
