Isaiah 53 “looks as if it had been written beneath the cross upon Golgotha.” Many believe this is the best single chapter in the whole Bible to explain what happened on the cross.
Today, I want to invite believers both here and a Cross Church to participate with us as we take the Lord’s Supper. We are devoting ourselves to a study of one of the powerful chapters in the Bible. Nowhere in all the Old Testament does the gospel shine more brilliantly than in Isaiah 53. This one chapter is quoted seven times in the New Testament and it is alluded to another 44 times in the New Testament.

The New Testament writers were constantly going back to Isaiah 53. Isaiah 53 really was the basis for their understanding of what happened on the cross. I wonder did the resurrected Jesus preach from Isaiah 53 to the two disciples on the Emmaus Road?

Our faith is in God who has never failed to do what He says. He knows what He has promised, He can’t lie, and He can’t forget. He will deliver on time, every time, and all the time. God is a promise-making, promise-keeping God.
