1. Being Called
Contributed on Jul 8, 2019
Jesus has called all of us, not just a special few, to be living stones in His spiritual house. The called ones stand on Jesus the cornerstone who makes us a chosen people, a royal priesthood and a holy nation.
Message 1 Peter 2:4-12 In Fellowship Together – Being Called When did you know you were called? It is a question I have been asked regularly as a Pastor. The answer is for another time … but for now I want to get us to think about the question. Because, for some who ask the question, there is a ...read more

2. Being Stewards
Contributed on Jul 11, 2019
In fellowship together we have a responsibility to be good stewards of our resources so that we can support each other. Jesus helps us fulfil this responsibility by enabling us to have the grace to be generous givers.
Message 2 Corinthians 8:1-15 Being Stewards Let’s start by reaffirming the close connection between being in fellowship together and being good stewards of our resources when we are in fellowship. In the very early days of the early church 44 All the believers were together and had everything in ...read more

3. Being Focussed
Contributed on Jul 19, 2019
In fellowship together we are called to be distinct focussed disciples. Focussed disciples are salt and light – undiluted and not hidden. This focus may lead to persecution, or to people glorifying the Father. No matter the outcome we remain focussed.
Message Matthew 5:10-16 Being Focussed When you become a Christian it doesn’t take too long for you to hear about the Beatitudes. We find them in Matthew 5 … open your Bible to that place … Matthew 5. (Read Matthew 5:3-10) Jesus uses these Beatitudes to introduce what it means to have a kingdom ...read more

4. Being Community
Contributed on Jul 26, 2019
In Corinth the Lord’s Supper had become a place where privilege and class diversity was causing division. Through Paul’s rebuke we are called to examine whether our participation in the Lord’s Supper is unworthy.
Message 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 Being Community The church in Corinth is well known as a church with issues. Let’s turn to 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 and read about an issue they were having with the Lord’s Supper. The news of Lord Supper chaos has come to Paul from Corinth through “some from Chloe’s ...read more

5. Being Led
Contributed on Aug 2, 2019
The author of Hebrews commands the congregation to remember, imitate, have confidence in and submit to godly leaders. The godly leaders who should be imitated are those who have a consistency in their relationship with Jesus, are biblically wise, and who equip the church to be distinct.
Message Hebrews 13:7-17 Being Led When you read through your Bible, especially the New Testament, you will regularly come across headings. The purpose of the headings is to give guidance on the different sections of Scripture that part of the same topic or section. The technical term for this is ...read more

6. Being Thankful
Contributed on Aug 9, 2019
Despite their sin, moral deficiency and division Paul is able to describe the church is Corinth as a group of people in fellowship together for which thankfulness can be offered. Such an outcome is possible because, in Christ, we are enriched and kept blameless as we live in fellowship with Jesus.
Message 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 Being Thankful What happens when a church isn’t working as well as it should? Well, in the case of the church in Corinth they receive a letter – inspired by the Holy Spirit – written by Paul. Here are some observations which are made about the church. One of you says, ...read more

7. Being Revived
Contributed on Aug 17, 2019
When we are connected to Jesus we can confidently approach the Holiness of God. This confidence should give us cause to consider how to spur on one another and build an environment of encouragement as we commit to our church fellowship.
Message Hebrews 10:24-25 In Fellowship Together – Being Revived When we talk to people during the week, and they ask us what we do on the weekend, I’m sure there have been times when we have all said, “I am going to fellowship with my church.” Have you ever stopped to wonder what “going to ...read more

8. Being Prayerful
Contributed on Aug 23, 2019
Recognising that many prayers in the New Testament are in the plural and focus on community, not just individuals, this messages gathers many New Testament Scriptures to teach from Scripture how a church in fellowship together is to be a prayerful church.
Note to preachers This sermon is a collecting of verses all about prayer. I used a power point presentation as I preached so the verses easily followed one another. On the power point I underlines where the words were in the plural to emphasise the community fellowship aspect of prayer. ...read more
