Anger, unchecked and uncorrected, affects 3 things: 1) Our view of ourselves (Matthew 5:21-22), 2) Our worship of God (Matthew 5:23-24), and 3) Our relation to others (Matthew 5:25-26).

2. Purity Exam

In order to be pure in heart we must understand: 1) The deed of adultery (Matthew 5:27), 2) The desire behind It (Matthew 5:28), and thereby achieve: 3) The deliverance from it (Matthew 5:29-30).

4. Experiments In Forgiving

In Matthew 5:38-42 we see Jesus presenting us God’s standard as an Experiment for us in Forgiving. Jesus outlines: 1) The Principle of Mosaic Law (Matthew 5:38), and gives four illustrations on: 2) The Perspective of Divine Truth (Matthew 5:39-42).

How can we love those who are hostile to us? Jesus shows us how in looking at 1) The Misinterpretation: (Matthew 5:43), 2) The Mandate (Matthew 5:44), and 3) The Motive: (Matthew 5:45-48).
