1. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation
Contributed on Jun 10, 2015
Revelation, the book of, is only as hard as we make it. And we make it hard by, 1, not reading it, 2, skimming through it, assuming it cannot be understood, 3, listening to teachers, without examining it ourselves. Here's a quiz and an intro to the book.
Some opening thoughts, and a quiz How much have you gleaned from the Bible’s final book? What a wonderful treatise, filled with praise, and promises of His coming! Granted, some of the details of Revelation are not “important” compared to the cardinal truths of our salvation, ...read more

2. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 13: Ch. 17-18, Babylon Destroyed!
Contributed on Jun 24, 2015
Wait a minute. Wasn't the fall of Babylon already predicted? Did it not already happen? Is this the same Babylon? Was Babylon ever taken out like the prophets foretold? Truly a mystery, this Babylon!
Close up: Babylon’s Description (17:1-7, 15-18) Scholars have speculated about the differences in chapters 17 and 18, theorizing that there must be two different Babylons being described. But careful analysis does not support that notion. There is too much similar. What is different ...read more

3. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 6. The Elect And The Persecuted. (Ch 7)
Contributed on Jun 17, 2015
The Jewish elect and the persecuted church are shown in Tribulation era "close-ups".
Close-up : The Jewish elect in the wilderness (7:1-8, 14:1-5, 12:6, 12:13-16) I’ll say it again: We have already covered most of the entire scope of the Book of Revelation, that is, the Scroll in the hand of the Lamb, in one short chapter. By chapter 7, we have come to the end of ...read more

4. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 7: Ch 8-9, 7th Seal, Aka The Trumpets
Contributed on Jun 18, 2015
Deeper and deeper into the mystery being unveiled. This is not an elongation of history but an in-depth look at the final judgments already uncovered. Seems that all this is happening within 3 and 1/2 years.
The First Six Trumpets and the three woes aka: the 7th seal (8, 9, 10:1-7, 11:15-19) A break (8:1-6). All 7 trumpets are part of the 7 seals. In fact it appears as though they can all be found in the 5th and 6th seals. The catastrophes of the first four seals are now intensified. The ...read more

5. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 12: Ch 15-16, The 7 Bowl Judgments
Contributed on Jun 23, 2015
Climax of the judgments of God on this planet before the return of Christ. Awful, awful, times. Most believers are gone, not by rapture, but by persecution and death. Yes it is possible: think, North Korea. So, his wrath is not falling on His people...
The Seven “Bowl” Judgments 15-16 The end has come and gone again. Any further talk of judgment must be a close-up, or review, of something already covered. That is where the bowls come in. Now, in the sixth seal and seventh trumpet days, in which the seven bowls are poured out, the ...read more

6. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 8: A Word For John, A View Of The Temple
Contributed on Jun 19, 2015
John receives a special message from God, in words that remind us of Old Testament characters. Then we see a close-up of a Temple ...
A word for John, Chapter 10 Break. Chapter 10 serves , among other things, as an introduction to the last trumpet, just as 8:1-5 builds up to the last seal. A Mighty Angel (10:1). There is a little more background in chapter 10, mostly John’s own personal matters. First another angel ...read more

7. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 15 (Final): Judgment, new Heavens & Earth
Contributed on Jun 26, 2015
Returning finally to a chronological telling of the story, John ends with the return of Christ and His judgment, and the introduction of the New Heavens and the New Earth.
The Millennium Ends (20:7-10) Such is a brief look at God’s special day, the Millennium. Now this wonderful time ends, and there is a new beginning. Before we move on in chapter 20 it is important to note that, with all of the activities encountered so far, there is no mention of a new ...read more

8. A Study In The Book Of Revelation, 11. Ch.14, 144,000; Return Of Jesus
Contributed on Jun 22, 2015
Yet more "background" of the tribulation period. We once more meet the elect of Israel. Some angels proclaim what is soon to come. And the return of Jesus is now heralded.
Close-up (revisited) : The 144,000 with Jesus! 14:1-5 Every subject brought up in chapter 14 has been discussed already, or will be given a fuller treatment later. But all these events seem to occur near the end. In terms of the book itself, we are still in between the trumpet and bowl ...read more

9. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 10. Chapter 13,antichrist And His Helper
Contributed on Jun 21, 2015
Man of Sin, Beast, Antichrist. Many titles, one man. Not a series of men. Not an office. A man. Read carefully, let no one deceive. He is coming. Chapters 13, 17, and 19 furnish a combined portrait of the man.
Close-up : The man of sin and his helper (13, 17:7-17, 19:17-21) Perhaps the most obvious of the long-term background descriptions is the one regarding antichrist. It is proper so to refer to him, but John never does, in Revelation. He here calls him the beast. In Daniel 7, he is the little ...read more

More close-ups of the Tribulation picture, setting clearly the background of those awful years to come.
Close-up : The Two Witnesses (11:3-14) Prophets of God (11:3-12). Has the world then recently come to a measure of peace in the first half of Daniel’s seven years? Has the conquering prince of the first seal brought, along with his destruction, some measure of hope by his ...read more

11. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 2: The Things Which John Saw
Contributed on Jun 11, 2015
John's final book begins with glorious encounters in the heavenlies. God's outline of the book was,1. The things you have seen, 2. the things which are, and 3. and the things which shall be. This is part one of the outline, and most important!
1. The things which John saw. (1:1-20) Address of origin (1: 1-2). John receives this document from an angel. Even when Jesus appears to be speaking, the angel is delivering the message. Knowing just this one fact will make much of the reading in the beginning and especially at the very end of ...read more

12. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 14: Return Of Jesus And The Millennium
Contributed on Jun 25, 2015
Eventually life as we know it will end, and life as Jesus wanted it will come to earth in the person of Jesus Himself and His saints.
The return of Jesus and defeat of the Beast (19:11-21, 14:14-20) John relates three pictures of the coming of Jesus. We saw two in chapter 14. The picture here is of an invading army, with Jesus at the head of it. He has gathered His troops together, and on the day of battle He is the ...read more

13. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 3, Things That Are (On Earth)
Contributed on Jun 12, 2015
The fabled letters to the seven churches turn out to be (are you ready for this) letters to the seven churches. Period. Where all the rest comes from I know not. But these churches were chosen because they represent every church that has ever existed.
2a. The things which are (on earth). (2-3) The communication to the seven churches of Asia is just what it appears to be: seven letters addressed to seven real churches, blessing them and warning them. All the fantasies of theologians through the years attempting to make these churches into ...read more

14. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 4: Things That Are, In Heaven.

View of Heaven from one who was actually there, unlike some of the stories we hear in our day.
2b. The things which are (in heaven) (4-5) (4:1) Come up hither. Oh the strange work that popular theologians have done with chapter 4 , verse 1. In this simple passage, John is addressed by Jesus, and told to come up to heaven for further revelations. Incredible to me is the ...read more

15. A Study Of The Book Of Revelation, 5: Things Which Shall Be; 6 Seals.
Contributed on Jun 16, 2015
Revelation 6. Quickly John sees an overview of either world history of the final Tribulation. Whichever it is, it clearly will be re-visited in the book. Revelation is not in chronological order. The end of chapter 6 is the end of the world!
3. The things which will take place after this (6-22) Generally speaking then, the rest of the book is part 3 of the Lord’s outline for John (1:19). Here is where the going gets tough. Here is where sequential methods of book-reading will not work. Part 3 starts with chapter six, which ...read more
