The REAL CHRISTMAS ICON
in some ways should have been JOHN THE BAPTIST
Instead of a RED SUIT
we would have people in CAMEL’S HAIR and LEATHER BELTS
walking around the shopping centres
shouting “PREPARE THE WAY OF THE LORD”,
and giving out SAMPLES OF WILD LOCUSTS AND HONEY
for people to try.

We should be like the 3-year-old boy (that Paul Harvey told about) who went to the grocery store with his mother. Before they entered the grocery store she said to him, "Now you’re not going to get any chocolate chip cookies, so don’t even ask."
She put him up in the cart & he sat in the little

NO-CUT AUDITIONS
Dick Sanderson is kind enough to give me a subscription to Leadership, Real Ministry in a Complex World. It is an exceptional magazine. This quarter there was an insert that carried a story called "A Cast of Thousands" by Lillian Daniel. She writes:

A preacher was walking home from the market one day and he noticed a little mischeivous boy playing with some old birds in a beat up, rusty birdcage. He asked the boy, "Son what are you going to do with those birds." That squirt of a boy said, "Well, I’m going to poke them with a stick...then I’m

Here’s some common sense that doesn’t sound especially biblical, but it has some really good biblical foundations. Consider these quotes from “The Wisdom of Cowboys”:
• A cowboy would say, “Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.” Now this is from

FAN OR FOLLOWER?
Kyle Idelman writes:
It was a Thursday afternoon, and I was sitting in our sanctuary where 30,000 people would soon be coming to one of our Easter services. I had no idea what I was going to say to them. I could feel the pressure mounting. I sat there hoping that a sermon would

My favorite Christmas card greeting is one I received many years ago. It describes the birth of Jesus in a nutshell. The printed greeting read: "He became what we are so we could become what he is." God has come through Jesus to dwell among us. He gave up the wonders of
