The “Captain of the Lord’s Hosts” is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. We call this a CHRISTOPHANY.

I have tried fasting a few times in my life and always found it helpful. Once, after a fast for a week or so, I was so hungry for food that I went out and bought a pizza. I was sick that night. Not a good idea to introduce pizza to a starving stomach too quickly. Are you hungry enough?

Once a lady I knew told me about a bad experience she had in church. She had grown up in a very legalistic church and had been away from church for a long time. Under the conviction of the Holy Spirit she knew she needed to get back in church, and so she went back to the church she had grown up in.
