JESUS IS THE AMPLIFIER
Jesus said: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
So... without Jesus I can't do anything? Now, that doesn’t mean you and I can’t do things that might be impressive. It doesn’t mean we can’t accomplish things that will make a mark in this world.
But what Jesus was saying was this:
If you want to do something that will last for eternity and have importance that’s going to count for something then you need to get attached to HIM.
It’s like the speaker on my phone (I played a part of a tune I had stored on my Android phone). Can you hear that music? (They could, but it was faint because I was merely holding up in front of me). You can hear and even recognize music from my cell phone if you’re close enough but to really get the power of the music, my phone has to be amplified (I held the phone up to mic). Can you hear it better now?
The phone can play any kind of music I can download to it.]
But in order for me to enjoy that music fully, I need something to amplify the sound.
Essentially, Jesus is our amplifier. Jesus is the one who takes our puny efforts and gives them lasting significance.
As one man said: ”I’m just a light bulb. But there’s a power line. His name is Jesus.”
