[303]. A MESSAGE FROM A POEM - THEY DID THIS TO MY SAVIOUR LORD

This is not a complex poem and is written with Easter in view. It recounts some of the events of the Trial and hearing before Pilate.

I have put a refrain into this poem, but I am not sure if it is one to be sung. Here and there the metre does not quite flow for smooth singing. However it is fine for recitation.

It could be an Easter meditation if you wish. There is not any more for me to say.

{{John 19:1-3 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged Him, and the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and arrayed Him in a purple robe, and they began to come up to Him and say, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and to give Him blows in the face.}}

===========================================================

THEY DID THIS TO MY SAVIOUR LORD

Lamb of God, Your head was crowned

By hateful man, by hateful thorns.

Mockery is what they found

Among the crowd where no one mourns.

Refrain:

“For my sin, Lord, you endured;

My salvation You procured.

In response I give my life now;

In gratitude before You bow.”

================================

With facial blows they scorned the King.

They hailed Him in utter deceit;

Fake worship from the devil bring

Until their hatred was complete.

=====

False soldiers with their purple robe,

Deluded, they played out their shame.

Satan’s hate you’ll find when you probe,

For they all disgraced the Lord’s Name.

Refrain

================================

Pilate was a man most wicked

Who slaughtered many, many Jews.

Jesus should have been acquitted,

But Pilate had demonic views.

=====

“I am innocent of His blood,”

Was Pilate’s weak profane deceit.

Wickedness surges like a flood.

One day he’ll bow at Jesus’ feet.

Refrain

================================

To Golgotha, the Lord they led,

And crucified the heav’nly Lamb.

For our sins, on the cross He bled,

And suffered as our Great I AM.

=====

Jesus, mocked by sinners on earth,

Is rightfully crowned in glory.

There they worship the One whose worth

Will never complete His story.

Refrain

Just the first 2 lines were written down in the past sometime. Now it is finished on 1 January 2022.
