A man once stood outside a house, knocking on the door. He knocked again and again, but no one answered. Finally, he noticed there was no handle on the outside of the door. The door could only be opened from the inside.
This illustration reflects the way Jesus approaches our hearts. The Bible says that Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He does not force His way in. He waits for an invitation.
Many people hear the Gospel, attend church, and know about Jesus, yet their hearts remain closed. Salvation begins when we choose to open the door of our hearts in faith and repentance. When we open the door, Christ enters and brings forgiveness, peace, and eternal hope.
God has already opened the way through the cross. The choice now belongs to us—to open the door and receive the gift of salvation.
